24.01.2022 Learn more about the work of CMS gospel workers as they continue to bring the good news on location during this Covid-19 time. The winter dinner is on-line. Grab your dinner - take away or home cooked - and settle in to enjoy, pray and celebrate God at work to bring A world that knows Jesus.

22.01.2022 5th Sunday of Lent - Welcome

21.01.2022 Thank you for joining us today. A copy of todays Holy Communion to celebrate the Epiphany of Our Lord can be found at https://www.facebook.com/anglicanwillochra

20.01.2022 This morning our readings from 2 Chronicles chapter 7 and Matthew 28 reminded us that God never leaves us. In fact, he is the one seeking us out and assuring us of his presence always, even to the end of time. It is in that confidence that we can dream new ways of being church and growing as disciples of Jesus. So many are sharing stories of how on-line church has been reaching people who do not usually come to our worship services and people who are wondering about the fut...ure and the uncertainty of life. Perhaps we glibly assure one another that God can work good out of hard times and trouble but we are proving it in our everyday as we share these many examples of God at work and bringing joy and connections that are unexpected. Opportunities to share food for the body and the soul are continuing to offer themselves; neighbours who have not spoken before are crossing the road and sharing their sorrows and joys; people are finding time to ring old friends and catch up with relatives via phone and Skype and Face time. Our pastoral care ministry will grow in this time. Jean and Lettie will be busier in caring and supporting families. Food will be provided for more people at home and on the street. The Thrift Shop stock will supply necessary winter clothes and bedding. Valuable friendships will be formed. They are already happening. This coming Sunday 26th at 5.30pm we will reflect on these words from 1 Peter 1: Prepare your minds for action (verse 13), for you have been born of imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God. We are being re-cast; it’s a new drama; the gospel stands firm as our roles and actions take a new shape. Praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ as he leads us into new adventures! Thank you Faye Carhart for the flowers.

08.01.2022 What hope and assurance in the word of God. God is all about healing and renewal and restoration. Do not only start a renewed life but grasp it with both hands and stride it out in the power and courage of the Holy Spirit.

07.01.2022 We have an Holy Communion at 5pm on Saturday and also at 10am on Sunday, you are welcome to join us in person. Our next Facebook Live Service is on Sunday 7th February. If you prefer Evening Prayer we have a Parish wide zoom every Sunday evening at 5:30pm, please leave a message and our Church Warden will email you a link.

04.01.2022 This morning we announced the appointment of the Reverend Mark Hawkes as the new Dean of the Cathedral Church of Sts Peter and Paul and the new parish priest for the Parish of Flinders Plain. Mark is currently the Rector at St Mark's, Golden Grove and will take up the appointment by early February. He will come with Fiona his wife and their 7 children (I am still working on remembering their names). We praise God for this godly man who pastors people into growing as disciples, builds up God's people through teaching and preaching God's written Word in the Bible and living out his relationship with Jesus in every day life.

04.01.2022 It's Easter Monday - late afternoon and the heat of the sun lessening. By now the disciples have seen Jesus risen and alive; sharing food with them and breathing peace on them. A Jesus they recognise but whose physical characteristics are different to before. The risen Jesus is the long-promised Messiah and Saviour; recognisable but moving. A changed Jesus heralding the transforming life for us too. I draw your attention to two links: 1. Good Friday and Easter Day services on... the Playford City Church facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/playfordcitychurch/?fref=tag 2. a daily devotional app, built on the practice of lectio divina. Lectio 365 app. You can even set it for a morning alarm to remind you. I am enjoying using it - it reminds me to pace my prays and reading with listening and reflection. As the Easter weekend comes to an end, be rested and rest in him. Like the disciples we enter 40 days of waiting and anticipation: What does the resurrection mean? What will the future look like? How are our lives and service to be shaped by the power of the resurrection at this time in this place? from Lectio 365: Jesus open my eyes to see You alive, present and powerful today. Spirit, infuse all I say and do with the hope of resurrection life. Amen

04.01.2022 Introduction to Letter of James

03.01.2022 And then their eyes were opened Luke 24:31 Luke 24:13-35 On Wednesday evening, as we sat down to eat, I had a phone call from my son’s number. It was a granddaughter. Ama, we’re having chapatis for dinner and it made us think about Easter and Jesus eating with his disciples. Was that the Passover? And is that tonight? And what was it all about again? I was put onto speaker phone and we reminded each other lots of back and forth chat about Moses and the Exodus and the...Continue reading

03.01.2022 I have been asked for the source of the eucharistic liturgy used in today's service. It is taken from A Prayer Book for Australia as used by the Anglican Church of Australia. It is on pages 161 - 162 as a Seasonal Variation for Australia in the Second Order of Holy Communion. The liturgy also uses material from A Voice in the Wilderness: Listening to The Statement from the Heart, a publication from the Anglican Board of Mission. We are using this liturgy in a six week series to listen to the voices of Australia's history and its First Nation people and engage us in actively praying for ways for us to learn and respond with love and justice as God's people united in Christ. Philippians 2 challenges us. Mary Lewis (parish priest).
