11.01.2022 As we begin the last ten days of the blessed month of Ramadan, here are few words of wisdom to keep in mind. Aisha(RA) Narrated: "With the start of last ten days of Ramadan, The Prophet(SAW) used to tighten his waist belt (i.e. work hard) and used to offer prayer all night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers" (Sahih Bukhari) Ibn al-Jawzi said: "When the racehorse knows that it is nearing the end of the track it exerts all of its effort to win the race. Do not a...llow the racehorse to be cleverer than you. For verily, deeds are judged by their conclusions. So, if you didn't do well with welcoming Ramadan then perhaps you will do better bidding it farewell." Ibn Taymiyyah said, "What really counts are good endings, not flawed beginnings." May Allah make us of those who put their best efforts into these last ten days of Ramadan. May he make the best of our deeds, the last of them. May he allow us to witness the best and blessed night of laylatul Qadr. Ameen

04.01.2022 Make the last 10 the best 10 As we approach the finish line of Ramadan, the desire to catch laylatul Qadr continues to intensify in our hearts. The uncertainty of the exact night it falls upon leaves the wise believer in a state of anticipation and alertness. As we anticipate laylatul Qadr, we need to be careful and protective of how we spend our time during these blessed days and nights. Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, writes: ... "Ghirah [regret] over any time that has passed! And it is a deadly regret, for time passes fleetingly, and is difficult to hold on to, slow to regain. Time for the worshipper is the time for worship and litanies, and for the murid (spiritual seeker) is time for drawing close to Allah and devoting his heart completely to Him. Time is the dearest thing to him; he fears that it may pass without him achieving his desire! If time passes him, he can never get it back, for the time that follows it has its own accompanying obligations and opportunities, such that when one time is lost, there is no way to regain it." Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said: I have never regretted anything as much as my regret over a day on which the sun sets and my life span decreases while my good deeds have not increased. To finish Ramadan strong, the wise believer does not just single out the odd nights and relax on other nights; instead, he/she fills every second of every day with as many quality deeds as possible. Sheikh Abdulfatah Abu Guddah, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "The portion of one’s time that was for Allah and with Allah is part of one’s life, while the rest is not counted as part of one’s life even if one lived long, for one was living the life of animals." How much of our time will count towards our lives as we farewell Ramadan? 2 - 7 days? Maybe less? Or all of what remains of Ramadan? Choose wisely. May Allah put barakah in our time and allow us to take advantage of the special days and nights ahead. Ameen
