19.01.2022 OPENING THIS FRIDAY! Please join us at Floating Goose Studios Inc. on Friday the 7th of August for the opening of The Uncertainty of Knowing, supported by the Art History & Curatorship Alumni Network (AHCAN), Floating Goose Studios Inc. and the City of Adelaide (@cityofadelaide), presented as part of SALA (@salafestival). Featuring new work by Adelaide based artists Izabella Shaw (@sidewalkmattress) and Inneke Taalman (@inneketaal), and curated by emerging curator ...Suzanne Close (@suzmclose). Details: "The Uncertainty of Knowing examines how information is constructed in a space of uncertainty, intuition and embodied experiences. The emerging artists Izabella Shaw and Inneke Taalman both embrace the unknown in their practice as a transformative state of discovery. Izabella Shaw finds meaning through the physicality of making, but in doing so, must journey into the unknown. Her practice requires risk as well as serious play and is perhaps why her sculptural work holds a delicate balance between materiality and the intangible poetics of form. Inneke Taalmans physical interventions of the gallery space, are far from violent occupations, but instead sensitively observed responses to the physical and psychological site. Taalman disrupts our preconceived perceptions to create a new layered and nuanced understanding of the places we inhabit. The exhibition interrogates how the space acts as a transmitter of knowledge and the role the gallery plays in this cognitive formation. In this time of socio-political uncertainty, art can function as a reminder to think critically about the space we inhabit and consider ways we can find comfort in the unknown." Due to COVID-19, this event will be in line with current government restrictions. The amount of people in the gallery will be limited and the Floating Goose team will observe visitor numbers closely. We ask that visitors maintain safe social distancing and make use of the hand sanitizer provided. See more

11.01.2022 Goose studio artist Patrick Cassars show Progressive opens at Collective Haunt Inc. this Thursday night! Patrick Cassars artistic process is as intriguing as his finished works. Cassar is exploring the way his studies, sketches and unfinished works, the integral elements of his artistic process become crucial in understanding the overarching narrative of his more resolved images. Conceptionally driven by the visual language of film and dream-like imagery, film maker Davi...d Lynch is an important influence on his art practice. With a sense of oddity that inspires strangeness and discomfort, Cassars work seeks to capture a moment in a still frame that simultaneously entices the viewers curiosity. 16th July - 15th August OPENING Thursday 16th July Limited Capacity. 11.01.2022 Another exciting announcement for July at the Goose! Jane Skeer and her project #wereinthistogether Jane Skeer (@janeskeer) will be continuing her project #wereinthistogether throughout July at Floating Goose Studios! Not only will she be taking over our gallery space, but each day Jane will be outside the gallery from 10am - 3pm, recording our lived experiences of Covid-19. Come by the gallery to participate! #wereinthistogether became a way to map human culture du...ring Covid-19, calming my fears and insecurities in the process. Interested in the way artworks hold ideas, I decided to investigate real feelings in the urban environment, placing myself precariously in the public domain, asking questions, exchanging thoughts, listening, and recording these findings digitally. I have found reassurance and confidence in our commonalities, strength in each other and surprisingly an enlivened community spirit. #wereinthistogether is a journal responding to our lived experiences. It is the process of gradually building a collection of information en-masse. This work has recorded the voices of people internationally and will develop further in July at Floating Goose Studios in Morphett Street, Adelaide. #wereinthistogether is stretching me as an artist to get out of my comfort zone and interact more with the public to find the real stories waiting to be told. #wereinthistogether will be a documentation of current events, a moment in time to reflect upon connecting us to the future! @ Floating Goose Studios Inc. 05.01.2022 GHOSTLY OTHERS RAY HARRIS FRIDAY 7TH MAY 6-9PM Please join us at Floating Goose Studios Inc. on Friday the 7th of May for the opening of ‘Ghostly Others’ by artist Ray Harris (@contemporayray) "'Ghostly Others' uses the ghost as a symbol for the lingering residue left by unresolved haunting longing, grief, nostalgia, yearning, exclusion and memory. Emerging from 1930’s Jungian M.Esther Harding’s term 'The ghostly loveran' impossible idealised fantasy lover that hol...ds our completeness or sense of self in an illusion of perfection outside ourselves. A longing for something that does not exist. This theory extends in Ghostly Others to countless narratives of ‘normalcy’ and the idyllic we are exposed to throughout our lives or aim endlessly to achieve, of equally perfectly devoted ghostly mothers and fathers, selves, gender, sexuality, race, life purpose, happiness and immortality. These idealised narratives create others out of many of us, those of us with disabilities and illness; physical and mental, severed relationships, trauma, difference, loneliness and disconnection."
