19.01.2022 Fannie Bay Equestrian Club is seeking expressions of interest for a Caretaker, as our fantastic Ali is leaving us in October. We are a Community Club situated ...at East Point. This is a live-in position, with accommodation in a very comfortable 1-bedroom demountable home with own garden in return for approx 20 hours per week of work around the property. The position would ideally suit a couple or single who enjoy an outdoor lifestyle and have experience with horses and life on the land. Duties include nightly let outs of our 30 horses (6 nights per week), fencing repairs, dispensing of hay bales, mowing, pasture management and general maintenance around the property. Essential skills are demonstrated experience around horses, tractor and chainsaw proficiency, fencing experience, knowledge of the Territory climate and its challenges, a happy disposition and can-do attitude. Applicants must hold or be able to obtain an Ochre Card. We envisage the successful applicant/s will be able to do a multi-faceted handover with our present Caretaker to enable a good transition for everyone. Move in date Early October, but this can be discussed and we can be flexible for the right people. Expressions of interest via email to [email protected] For queries, please call Sara on 0439 202 951 after 4pm daily Applications close 7 September.

19.01.2022 Fun Fact: Whiskers; also known as vibrissae, or tactile hairs, are the result of millions of years of evolution to help horses get a better sense of their envir...onment by relaying messages to the brain. Horses have blind spots both directly in front of and right below their chins due to their eyes being set on the sides of their head. Their whiskers help aid them in various things such as negotiating the distance between objects close to their noses such as food, water, and the ground, while also helping them avoid injury and eating the wrong things. 15.01.2022 What a great example of self carriage of horse in greenThis horse is engaging his thoracic sling and abdominal muscles to lift back and engage hind quarters ... however, the other examples the horses in red, is bracing with his back and hollowing causing reduced stride length and on the forehand. Also notice the green horses reach in front and hind legs are the same and head and neck are stretched and relaxed. Thanks to @thehorsept For this wonderful example See more

10.01.2022 Friends that remember our horse Artie...... please share this for sale post. He is a wonderful horse with a beautiful nature. He was too forward for me, but has... been awesome for Emily and will be for his next rider I’m sure Artie 21 year old, 15hh, Australian Stock Horse! Artie is a one of a kind horse, with the most beautiful temperament! He’s an all rounder being good at jumping, dressage, barrels, bending ect. Have recently just started campdrafting with him, he’s good with cows (however can get a tad excited)! Has no bite or buck in him, have owned him for 4 years and haven’t experienced a nasty or naughty side to him! He doesn’t shy and is quite bomb proof, is good with quads/motorbikes, kids, chooks, dogs ect. He is very affectionate and loves attention! Is easy to catch, self loads, easy to shoe, good with other horses, and good with kids, however he will need a confident beginner or a rider with experience as he can be quite forward! He is 21 although you wouldn’t think so with how energectic he is and how young he acts! When I first got him he had quite bad seedy toe however over the last 4 years we have worked hard to get rid of it, with his feet now looking really good, the only catch being they can be a bit sensitive on rough terrain and shoes usually being required! A very regretful sale, only selling due to becoming quite busy and just not having the time to give him the attention he needs and deserves! $3500

08.01.2022 - The adage no hoof, no horse is well worn for a reason: It tells us exactly how important hoof care is. Chief Health Officer (CHO) advice #20 is now available and can be viewed on the [email protected] website. Please note the new CHO directions will remain in force while the public health emergency declaration is in force. ENT would like to re-iterate the following points: - ENT accredited coaches are still able to coach, and you are able to travel with your horse and float to them. Coaching must be in accordance with CHO and EA directions. - In accordance with CHO directions our members must not participate in a sporting activity engaged in by more than 2 people, unless the persons ordinarily reside together in the same residence. - Continue to observe social distancing requirements. - Continue to observe best practice hygiene in accordance with the WHO. 03.01.2022 Meet The 70-Year Old Who Came To Mongolia To Race The World’s Toughest Horse Race, And Won It Bob Long has never been to Mongolia. But as soon as he heard about... the Mongol Derby, he knew he had to travel to the country of the Great Khan and see what this race, and culture, was all about. Because the Mongol Derby is hailed as the world’s longest and toughest horse race. It’s even recognized as that with its very own Guinness World Record. There’s absolutely nothing easy about this 1,000-kilometer (621-mile) race across Mongolia. Riders most of whom have only just arrived in Mongolia days before, this being their first time in the country have to navigate themselves across bogs, mountains, rivers, and everything else that the infamous Mongolian steppe can throw at them using only the help of a Garmin GPS system, a semi-wild Mongolian horse and their instincts. The Mongolian culture is centered around the horse. Horse racing for them is more than a sport, it’s a community event that strengthens bonds and celebrates the power and prowess of their semi-wild steeds. The Mongol Derby allows riders from across the world to test not only their horsemanship but also their own mental fortitude and their ability to let go of control and trust an unknown horse, one who’s been allowed to retain its wild spirit says Erik Cooper, Event Manager of the Derby...read more: https://www.forbes.com//meet-the-70-year-old-who-came-to/
