24.01.2022 Sea of sprouting corn I love the big reveal when the covers come off (see today’s story)

24.01.2022 We make an appearance in the latest edition of Gippsland The Lifestyle Magazine! There may be a pandemic going on, but our commitment to ethical, chemical-free food is unwavering.

23.01.2022 Obligatory mid-storm rainbow shot (with bonus luminous geese)

20.01.2022 Loving the colour variation amongst this year’s lambs - very white fleece, jet black fleece, and all the patterns in between

19.01.2022 We only have a handful of pigs (adults and piglets), and moving them is technically very straightforward, but moving them all on one day can still take quite a while! It’s always rewarding though to see them like this in an overgrown vegetable plot. I’ve made a video about our pig moving process over on YouTube for those who are interested https://youtu.be/nNhovCWlhh4

18.01.2022 Putting the birds away each night always looks different.

17.01.2022 Settling in. . . . Video of our small poddy lamb curling up with the dog on her bed in front of the fire.

17.01.2022 Shepherd’s delight...

16.01.2022 Our car park is ready! No more four-wheel driving through puddles or awkwardly maneuvering around other vehicles! (hopefully) It’s only taken us a year... How much longer until we can afford to extend it I wonder... Lots of fresh produce right here for you tomorrow - see you soon! ... Open Saturdays 10-2

16.01.2022 Piglet therapy anyone?! In all seriousness though, hope everyone is doing ok right now.

14.01.2022 The blur of excited piglets

14.01.2022 ONE WEEK ONLY! Chicken liver pate, available from our farm gate shop. Also added this week... Thai green curry (limited) Kale, heritage lettuce, collard greens, herbs ... Pasture raised chicken Order by Friday, pick up Saturday https://openfoodnetwork.org.au/flock-stock-basil/shop#/home

12.01.2022 Who is excited about salad weather?! Webb’s Wonderful is a crispy, tasty heritage lettuce that is great in salads, burgers, and basically any way you like your leafies (think a loose-leaf iceberg variety) https://openfoodnetwork.org.au/flock-stock-basil/shop#/home

11.01.2022 The gardens are starting to look promising again!! If you’re a keen observer (or on our mailing list) you will have noticed a small range of veggies creeping back into our farm gate shop. We’ve had such a great response lately and are so grateful for all of you who are able to keep supportIng us at this time. Just a heads up though, you may see the veggies drop off again for a week or two as we let things grow, but rest assured there is A LOT coming, and a lot of gardening... happening in the background! Orders close 10am Fridays https://openfoodnetwork.org.au/flock-stock-basil/shop#/home

10.01.2022 Taking advantage of the break in the storms Adding natural mineral (crushed limestone) to our soil to help boost pH and calcium for our root veg

09.01.2022 Soon... This goose has been diligently sitting on eggs for nearly a month. Others have just started hatching. Prepare for gosling content people... (Also, a picture of a goose egg with a chicken egg for interest)

08.01.2022 A good grass season indeed Shout out to my fellow hayfever sufferers right now! It’s not easy being allergic to your job but it is all worth it in the end... It was especially worth it this weekend to see so many lovely faces at the farm gate, including several we haven’t seen since pre-pandemic times. Welcome back Melbourne! And a huge thank you to everyone who has been supporting us each week

08.01.2022 Somebody get this gosling a hammock

06.01.2022 The Boyz - protectors; loud-mouths; food testers; stud muffins.

06.01.2022 Salami! Sliced and packaged in assorted flavours so you can sample all three (pepperoni, chilli, orange and fennel). Now excuse us while we go and enjoy this pizza Farm shop orders open til 5pm tomorrow *extended* https://openfoodnetwork.org.au/flock-stock-basil/shop#/home

05.01.2022 Sprung! Some of our chickens are such free spirits that they get through/over/under every fence imaginable to do their own thing. We’ve learned that it’s easier to accept their antics and work with them rather than trying to control them. ... For example, this white one knows where the feed bin is, so don’t forget to shut the lid! And the black one insisted on laying in the milk crate anyway, so may as well make it comfortable, right?!

04.01.2022 Spring Our little poroporo

04.01.2022 When you go to repair the old chook caravan and end up rebuilding it from scratch... Good work Chris and Rob! No details spared. Second egg mobile now in circulation, and all that’s left is for me to paint the doors - any colour suggestions?! Have a closer look in today’s stories ... (And yes, that front window is an old screen door from the tip!!)

03.01.2022 How’s everyone doing?

02.01.2022 Bigger is not always better... Tonight’s harvest: baby carrots, onions, parsnips, turnips, beets, and leeks (+ snap peas and broad beans). We eat and sell a lot of our vegetables as smaller varieties because they are often so much tastier when they are younger. ... Not convinced? Come and try them! Open Saturdays 10-2

01.01.2022 Boxes Are Back! The ‘winter’ gardens got pretty grassy in the wet, but it hasn’t stopped the good stuff coming up The broccolini pictured will be one of the items in our Greens Boxes returning to the farm gate shop this week (some veggies are also for sale separately). Orders open now https://openfoodnetwork.org.au/flock-stock-basil/shop#/home

01.01.2022 Inside day During the worst parts of this weather at least. Having a small flock, we can move the sheep in and out of the barn as needed in order to keep our precious lambs dry. They know the drill and they know where the hay is...
