21.01.2022 Did you know that broccoli is a true nutrient boost? Not only is the full list of all the nutrients it contains very long but it is also considered a complete list. We know that everything that is in this valuable vegetable has been fully researched by scientists. One of the most important nutrients that broccoli contains is the essential trace element chromium. Chromium has a positive effect on insulin production, your blood sugar balance, and overall metabolism. Broccoli a...lso contains the indirect antioxidant sulforaphane, which, when eaten regularly, is associated with a reduced risk of cancer and protecting the skin from harmful UV radiation. In addition to containing plenty of dietary fiber, broccoli has lots of vitamins C and E, pro-vitamin A, potassium, calcium and iron. Due to its high content of coenzyme Q10, broccoli is also said to have a rejuvenating and anti-ageing effect. Fresh broccoli is dark to blue-green, compact and firm. Since it withers quickly and loses its valuable nutrients, it should be prepared and eaten soon after harvesting - preferably within three days. Important: The shorter the cooking time, the more nutrients are kept! Even consider trying broccoli raw in a salad or in a slaw - like this one here :-) Broccoli Protein Almond Salad (Serves 4) Ingredients 365 grams Broccoli (chopped into small florets) 310 grams Frozen Edamame (shelled) 4 stalks Spring Onion (sliced) 70 grams Almonds (chopped) 65 grams Almond Butter 15 ml Rice Vinegar 18 grams Tamari (or Coconut Aminos) 20 grams Maple Syrup 15 ml Sesame Oil 1 Garlic (clove, minced) 30 ml water In a large mixing bowl, combine the broccoli florets, edamame beans, green onions, and chopped almonds. To make the salad dressing, whisk together the almond butter, rice vinegar, tamari, maple syrup, sesame oil, garlic, and water. Add more water if needed to achieve desired consistency. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss to mix well. Serve immediately, or let sit for a few hours before eating. Enjoy! (Keeps well in the fridge for up to 3 days)

Food is more than just calories, it’s information that our cells need to function, information that our metabolism can use to either run efficiently or sluggishly trudge along. When you eat a piece of sugar, fruit juice or refined carbohydrates, it goes right to your liver, where it starts manufacturing fat, triggering more insulin resistance and causing chronically elevated blood insulin levels, driving your body to store everything you eat as even more belly fat. Broccoli on the other hand is rich in fiber and low in carbohydrates and sugar. 10.01.2022 We often hear about increased life expectancy in our society which makes many people think all is well, modern medicine will save them when they need it and they'll easily live to a ripe old age! The thing to think about though is your quality of life span. By this we are talking about the time you have in good health with great quality of life. I.e. how much life do you have in your years of life? Feeling healthy, vibrant and energised throughout life and into old age is go...od life quality and is what we all want. This isn't the reality though for so many people. They are instead dependent on medications, medical interventions and suffering the consequences of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, many cancers and heart disease. So living to 85 but the last 25 years of your life is suffering slow, steady decline and infirmity with pain, discomfort and popping multiple pills is not that great to us. It's never too early or too late to make lifestyle changes to improve your quality of life and expand your healthy life span. Every day your food and lifestyle choices dictate how you feel, how your body works and how your future health could be. 07.01.2022 Client quips from in clinic consultations this week so far. - I went for out walking recently and found that I didn't need to take my asthma medication (MB client - 4.5 weeks) - My husband told me that I've stopped snoring. He's so happy! My bloating has also gone!(MB client - day 4)... - Before I started Metabolic Balance with you I was suffering with chronic re-flux symptoms.
