We have had a blast learning lots of new games and practising different sporting skills. The tug-o-war challenge was a crowd favourite! 25.01.2022 Advice for Families Term 4 2020 Updated guidelines were circulated to schools yesterday with the following information relevant to our parents and carers. Procedures for Term 4 which will remain the same:... Student drop-off and pick ups Student hygiene routines, including bringing water bottles from home Restricted adult access to school grounds or at school events, except for practices already in place - e.g. band tutors, LST meetings and specialist support personnel Extensive cleaning practices undertaken throughout the day Activities which are still on hold until further notice: Parent and carer attendance at assemblies and other school events Parent and carer volunteers - e.g. parent reading helpers (note: canteen and uniform shop volunteers are permitted) School-based activities that involve large gathering of adults Restrictions that will change in Term 4: Year 6 farewells Kindergarten orientations Year 7 transitions Interschool activities (where there is a Covid-19 Safety Plan in place). 23.01.2022 Remembrance Day at Floraville Public School Today our school captains and prefects contributed to a virtual assembly. In order to commemorate those who have served in all wars we listened to readings, poetry, made poppies, and we reflected on the fallen with a minute of silence.... 23.01.2022 K I N D E R 2 0 2 1 O R I E N T A T I O N At Floraville Public School our Kinder Orientation Program is all about the children being ready for school. Our program aims to reduce their worries by familiarising the children with our school environment and staff. Yesterday the Kinder teachers were very excited and opened up their rooms for a second time to greet our next generation and get to know them a little better prior to their start in 2021. We had a successful morning of fun activities that will hopefully contribute to them having a strong and successful start to school at Floraville. 14.01.2022 Kindergarten 2021 - Uniform Shop Access Due to health regulations surrounding Covid-19, our system for ordering school uniforms has been modified for Kindergarten 2021. Parents have the option of bringing their child to the uniform shop at a specified time, to check for sizing. However, children will be unable to try on the garments due to the current health guidelines. Our volunteers will be available to help you with selection. Our school has organised an online booking sy...stem through schoolinterviews.com.au This process allows you to choose a time that suits you and your family requirements. To book a 15-minute timeslot at the uniform shop, please visit schoolinterviews.com.au and reserve a time. You will need to enter the code: r2wu4 on the website (in the green part). 13.01.2022 *ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE - WEEK 2* Our attendance rate took a hit last week with a stomach bug causing several students to stay home. Time off school in this instance is ‘justifiable’. We appreciate it when parents keep their children at home, so the virus does not spread throughout the remainder of the school. A reminder to submit your child’s absence via the Sentral for Parents app or otherwise contact the school to notify the absence. After a second consecutive day of absenc...e, your child’s teacher will give you a courtesy call to make sure all is well. Any long-term or frequent absences due to sickness may require the support of a Drs. Certificate. Well done to the 429 students who had a 100% attendance rate for Week 2. This equated to 81.6% of our students attending school at least 90% of the time. Hopefully, we can bounce back this week to be above the 90% mark. Together we can. These P&C-donated cubbies are certain to be a welcome addition to the play area and guaranteed to be a hit for the students to enjoy for many years to come.... 10.01.2022 And the band played on... Over the past few weeks, the school band has been exploring ensemble music in a new and exciting way. When new restrictions on certain instruments came into play around a month ago, we were unable to continue our usual rehearsals with our concert band instruments. Not wanting our young musicians to miss out on the benefits of learning and playing music together, we transitioned to working with percussion instruments including a variety of drums, x...ylophones and glockenspiels. As you can see, our students have taken to the challenge with enthusiasm! 08.01.2022 Year 5 Camp Day On Monday, Year 5 braved the heat and attended a camp day at Great Aussie Bush Camp, Kincumber. It was nice to be able to venture off the grounds of Floraville for the day. While we didn’t do our usual two-night stay at GABC, we made the most of the day out. Students participated in three activities throughout the day which included archery, The Giant Swing and a High Ropes course. The current exhibition is ‘Awaba: Know Our Stories’ This exhibition contains portraits of some of our local Aboriginal community members. Whether it’s Aboriginal elders, who contribute so much to passing on knowledge and wisdom, Indigenous families who call Lake Mac home, or indigenous youths full of hope and promise, at... the beginning of their life journey, their portraits and the words they share here aim to inspire us all. We are proud to say that our school’s Aboriginal Education Officer, Uncle Nolan, is featured in this exhibition! He is a local educator and artist and we are thrilled about your well-deserved recognition! This exhibition is open now until Sunday, 25 October 2020 and entry is free. 02.01.2022 Aerobics FISAF State Competition Despite the hurdles 2020 has presented, our five aerobics teams have been busy this week filming their routines for the FISAF State Competition. In following current NSW Health and Dept of Education guidelines, entries are being filmed and being sent in for the virtual competition. The teams have been busy training twice a week in stage cohorts to refine their choreography in preparation. ...
