25.01.2022 Social distancing made easy. I did two tiger snake rescues and releases today. Funny, when people see your gear, they maintain a very safe social distance!

23.01.2022 Why can't you call for volunteers to help remove snakes? The short version: The WA Government has ensured that people can no longer call Wildcare Helpline for a volunteer to remove dangerous snakes from their home.... If you are in the Churchlands area and need a snake removed, please call 0490 149 595 The long version: In January, the WA government has legislated to remove the requirement for a Reg 17 license for people to relocate reptiles. As such, DPAW has advised that there are no longer processes in place to ensure appropriate accredited training and competencies, therefore they are unable to confidently hold a list of volunteer removers to refer to the community. This means that people cannot call Wildcare Helpline for a volunteer. They instead have to search by themselves for a professional service, which can be very expensive. Moreover, with the removal of licenses for people to relocate reptiles, people may be calling on less-than-qualified people. It is possible that the lack of referral to volunteers and the removal of licensing will put both people and snakes in unnecessary danger. I'd encourage you to share this message with your friends, especially those who live close to snake habitats and get them to write or email their local State MP. Matthew Ogilvie

10.01.2022 When I was cleaning my pool this morning I found this baby in our skimmer box. Please remember that even though it's cooler, tiger snakes are still around.

08.01.2022 Believe it, or not! A tiger snake was spotted today on Mallen View Churchlands. This baby was heading into a front yard but rescued just in time. Just a reminder that, even though it is the middle of Winter, there are still snakes around!

04.01.2022 How NOT to deal with a snake. I don't mean to judge but they did this the wrong way. The only thing they did right was to remain calm. But I gurantee this -- if they tried what they did at the end to a tiger snake, the man would have been bitten.
