24.01.2022 Is the reason you don't floss because you don't know how to or find it too difficult/time consuming? Flossing can be very simple and quick if you are taught the correct technique! Here are a few tips to help you: 1. Use 30-40cm of floss. Wrap most of it around the middle finger of one hand, and the rest around your other middle finger. 2. Hold the string tightly between your pointer finger and your thumb to have full control of the floss.... 3. Use a gentle rubbing backwards and forwards motion to guide the floss down in between your teeth (you should never need to force the floss down!) 4. When the floss is in between your teeth at the gum line, form a C shape with the string, following the shape of the tooth. Move it gently up and flick out the floss. Repeat with tooth on the other side of the same gap, and then repeat between each tooth! Still not sure how to floss? Come in and see one of our friendly dentists and dental nurses! 04.01.2022 REMEMBER THAT FLOSSING YOUR TEETH IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS BRUSHING THEM! We have 5 sides on every tooth: the front, back, left side, right side and top. Brushing your teeth only cleans the front, back and top of each tooth and in fact, pushes food in the middle of the teeth as toothbrushes cannot get in there. Therefore, we must also floss to remove food on these side surfaces to have a fully cleaned and fresh smile :)
