08.01.2022 Saw Oliver standing by himself just quietly watching Bridget socialise with their darling guests. Me: What are you thinking about, Oliver? Oliver: Oh, Just thinking about what I’m going to say in my speech. ... Oliver then goes on to drop the most insanely heartfelt speech of all time. Off the cuff. It mattered. I still feel it in my chest when I think about it.

07.01.2022 Look. Sometimes the occasion truuuuly calls for a champagne shower. In the middle of the city. During lunch hour. I’m never gonna say no, especially to Lexi and Trent. In fact, I may have encouraged it . They had a big wedding planned for yesterday; It’s on hold until Lexi’s family in America are able to be there. So, instead they wandered into the city, and in their own words: We got tired of waiting, so we did the thing!!

07.01.2022 These past 12 months have taught me A LOT on a personal level. Firstly, don’t underestimate the random beauty that can appear within, and around us during painful times in our lives. On the day I took this photograph a year ago, my heart was hurting. Little did I know, Bree and Nige (thankfully, none the wiser to my life moment), started what would become the long term Kintsugi style repair. It was my first lesson in deep diving into creativity when you’re hurt (ART - TAKE ...THE WHEEL). I shot some of my best work that day, in my opinion. This year has brought illness, death, and heartbreak to loved ones all around me. I’ve listened, learned and continue to hold enormous space for dear friends for their own pain and suffering. The same way the hordes of beautiful humans surrounded me during difficult times. In early 2020, a woman whom I deeply admire tentatively told me (in the cautious way you tell someone something, knowing that they won’t fully comprehend until they’ve travelled the journey themselves) There is beauty in grief. I promise to never stop observing, learning, listening, and magnifying those quiet, but mighty connections through my work. To all my couples and their people, friends, and even the strangers at weddings who sometimes share precious insights and stories with me, you have each in your own way shaped my life and the way I observe and document, forever.
