21.01.2022 Let your freak flag fly are the words this beautiful bride said to me. After four or five cake tastings or as she liked to say cake fixes of the same flavour each time, a colour pallet was given to me to choose from and I was sent on my way to create whatever creation I desired! Let your freak flag fly. Try something new. ... Have fun. Each time I met Tara, I learnt something new about her, I learnt that she loved the colour green and it would be the main colour theme of her big day. I observed that she wore beautiful crystal earrings. She bought over the stones that you see on her cake and said maybe they could be incorporated ... or maybe not. She was charismatic and we laughed every time came to collect her cake fix. Every little piece of information I could pick up from our meet ups was how I come to create this stunning unique beauty! The bottom tier a burnt butter with a lime butter cream... the top tier a lime cake with a lavender buttercream. A Geode cake of green and gold for a beautiful woman inside and out on her special day! Congratulations Tara and Shaun - cannot wait to see the photos.

21.01.2022 2021 has started with a bump or two but I’m grateful it’s happened. Grateful to start the year reminded of the amazing humans I am surrounded with and grateful it all has happened when I have taken some time off caking.... well kind of. The evening of the 3rd of January I was up late baking a wedding cake for a wedding due to be delivered the morning of the 6th. Early hours of the 4th I was up with horrible pains in my chest and back and nausea like no other. The pain got i...ncreasingly worse and fast forward resulted in an ambulance ride into hospital and emergency surgery to get my gall bladder removed. I’m home now and have had such an amazing bunch of people rally around me to make things happen. As you can imagine the stress I was feeling to have this cake executed and delivered was through the roof. I asked the surgeons if I could go home quickly to do the cake, I asked if we could just drug me up enough for me to get this done and I’d come back - but to no avail. Thankfully my fellow caker, Michelle at @vanillaandblossomcakes along with my amazing hubby and a phenomenal florist made miracles happen to create this masterpiece! Hubby delivered the cakes to Michelle who put the cakes together, he then went and collected the most beautiful florals all individually wired and ready for the cake from Cassandra from @flowerswithmeaning_florist and took them back to Michelle. Michelle finalised the stunning cake and hubby collected it and delivered it to the venue, all whilst I was stuck in a hospital bed. The biggest thank you in the world goes to you Michelle! You did something to help me out when you really didn’t have to. I am so beyond grateful for how much you bent over backwards for me! Words can’t even describe! Cassandra you are so kind and generous wiring the flowers and even offering to deliver them when you had your own enormous task ahead of you! Thank you thank you thank you! And finally to my husband, words cannot describe the gratitude I have for what you have done over the past couple of days. The bride had no idea of the behind the scene challenges and that’s all I could have asked for. Congratulations Mel and Matt on tying the Knot! Onwards and upwards to an epic 2021!
