18.01.2022 Other news--the wonderful Kate Lawrence popped in yesterday. Olympic kyacker ( someone else got this years place on the team though but Kate is still an Olympian I think). She will be here in a couple of weeks to make some of her original jewellery for the gallery thank god. She has the world ahead of her. Wishing you the absolute best life. We must have been having a nice chat because Ginger attacked us both. ( I think his claws might have to go)

17.01.2022 I was too focused on having a nice day to give you an update on the sales & artists. So...there's increased interest in Andrea Mckey's jewellery lately--distinctive glass bead work & brooches. Andrea is a Darwin artist I tracked down. Her Crocodile Tears Necklaces caught my eye---unique, funky, elegant & beautifully finished. The attached photo shows some of the items we'll be featuring at her upcoming exhibition which opens on Sunday 23rd September

14.01.2022 I hope to see you all at Judy & Sarah Whitlock's exhibition at Flourish Arts this Sunday, 18th November from 2pm. Through their collaboration they have achieved some extraordinary works of art. Sarah is a contemporary jeweller & Judy is an artist and printmaker. Judy has etched images into silver & then made a limited series of prints on paper. Sarah then created wearable works of art using the etched silver plates, additional silver work and prescious & semi-precious gem stones. Each piece is totally unique & exquisite. See you on Sunday.

12.01.2022 Margot Miller is a new gallery artist who bought in wondrous new works today. I immediately bought one of her silicon & silver rings----well I haven't got a silicon & silver ring yet. Don't worry there are 2 left. Her stash includes acrylic bangles in various colours, that are twisted, have pearls, are etched or have piercings & studs. So much beautiful jewellery so little money to buy it. Margot is going to make me a pendant with leaping, rolling or sleeping silver cats on black acrylic back grounds. I add her photos when I get them

12.01.2022 Really good day in the gallery today. A new artist, Margot Miller, bought in pieces for me to choose from--acrylic, silver, gems,--totally different to current artists. I want the lot in the gallery of course & have ordered an acrylic & silver pendant for me of a silver cat leaping for a butterfly on a black acrylic background. Lots of lovely local popped in with news, new customers came & loved the place & promised to be back. Today was the kind of day that gives me confidence that the gallery is doing the right thing

11.01.2022 I want to acknowledge Alan Mackay-Smith of ANK Studios. Alan designed & painted the Gallery image up the top which I use for the gallery flier. Everyone thinks it's terrific. The shop window captures the range of gallery stock & the mannequin head framing the picture sets it off really well. Alan designs & paints the Balmain cards & celendars as well as lots of the Gallery exhibition promotional cards. He gets me a great price for printing too & he & his wife are are joy to work with.

08.01.2022 I must have had a good day today because Ginger ( the furry beast) attacked me all day which meant I wasn't giving him my full & undivided attention. Mum says I have to make him less possessive. Any clues for how to achieve this outcome with an 11 year old ginger cat who came to stay 18 months ago when he escaped from a burning building, was homeless & had had a challenging upbringing.

04.01.2022 MJ Yates has started the Balmain Hidden Treasures Tours which is so important for the galleries & speciality shops of Balmain & Roselle. MJ did all of the research & is taking all of the risk to increase the profile of some of the unique spots in the area by running bus tours. I am so very pleased for her (& us ) & wish her all the very very best with this venture. Knowing MJ everyone goes on the tours will have a ball.
