07.01.2022 We envisage a world where women live free of pelvic floor trauma, without the humiliation and shame associated with prolapse of their genitourinary organs, urinary and faecal incontinence and fistulas as a result of birth trauma. How are we doing this? - Educating and empowering women regarding pelvic floor trauma in developing countries - Assisting the training of healthcare professionals in developing countries regarding prevention and management of pelvic floor trauma - An...d peoviding medical equipment to the trained doctors in the respective countries to assist in achieving the above outcomes Our advocacy extends to women’s human rights and gender equality, with a focus on reproductive rights. We want women to be able to exercise their reproductive rights when and with whom they choose and encourage men to support women to be able to do so.

01.01.2022 Having a child remains one of the biggest health risks for women worldwide. Addressing that gap is a multidisciplinary challenge, requiring an emphasis on education, human resources, community involvement and social equality. At a minimum, women must be guaranteed antenatal care, skilled birth attendants and emergency obstetrics, and postpartum care. One of the goals of Flourishing Women is to assist in providing postpartum care to women who have experienced birth trauma in ...developing nations, whether it be by donations, education or surgery by our urogynaecologists themselves. Over the next few weeks we will be profiling some of the conditions that are regularly treated this way, to free women of the stigmatisation, isolation and humiliation which accompanies them.
