22.01.2022 For many people this year has been like no other. Usually Christmas is a time that many of us are lucky enough to have family and friends to share this time with. This year this may not be the case with border restrictions in place. There are a lot of people who spend their Christmas alone or in sadness every year. Perhaps we may be able to empathise with these people more and reach out if we can. May joy fill everyone’s heart this Christmas.

22.01.2022 I love this Chinese Gender Predictor. It is spot on for my two girls. Is it correct for you? To check match up the age you were when you fell pregnant and the month of conception to see if girl or boy!

22.01.2022 Today we had our mums and bubs group at Currimundi. I brewed my new breastfeeding tea really strong and then refrigerated it. Right before leaving home I added half sparkling water half breastfeeding tea in my thermos. The combination made such a refreshing and delicious drink to share on a hot day. I love the pink colour of this tea.

21.01.2022 Drinking nutritious, organic herbal tea is one of the simplest things you can do to support your body's healing after birth. Our Postnatal Restorative tea is designed to do just that. This blend also supports breastfeeding and the easing of colic in babies.

20.01.2022 Another great birth last week. Little Eveleen seemed to be in a bit of a hurry. This was my second first time mum this year to give birth in 6 hours. You ladies are legends. Those of you that are having longer births be grateful. Fast births can be quite shocking to both mum and baby. Especially when pushing starts when you’re still home

20.01.2022 Little Poppy loves her mama massaging her. Don’t you love the little gurgles of delight.

15.01.2022 Pregnancy is one of those times in live when optimal health is essential. When possible surround yourself in nature. If that’s not possible then may add a few house plants to your hone where there’s enough light for them to thrive.

13.01.2022 Merry Christmas everyone. I’m excited, I’m off to my first Christmas birth. What could be more fun to do on Christmas Day.

12.01.2022 During pregnancy I prepare my clients for this first image of their babies. I especially want the family to know what’s normal in case their baby comes unexpectedly quick at home. If you’re birthing in the hospital and don’t have a doula with you at the time of birth you most likely won’t have anyone assuring you that your baby’s bluish skin tone during those first moments of life are normal. Mixed with a little vernix it can be quite scary for some parents. Babies are most... often born slightly blue and as they take their first breaths the oxygen helps their skin turn pink quite quickly. Do you remember this moment at your birth? What were your thoughts? . . Image @katekennedybirthphotography See more

12.01.2022 Babies are often born with this amazing cheese like coating called Vernix Caseosa. Vernix is produced by dedicated cells starting around the 21st week of gestation. Vernix has some protective roles during fetal development and the first few hours after birth. It literally feels like a soft cream cheese. It usually vanishes within a couple of hours after birth into the baby’s skin. Due to vernix helping baby’s transition from womb to life outside the womb it’s best to not w...ash the baby for at least a few days. Vernix continues to be an intriguing topic of interest amongst the medical world. Therefore we really don’t know just how magic Vernix really is. See more

09.01.2022 I spent many hours in the warm Hawaii ocean with my newborns. Both daughters loved being in the water from about one week old. Surprisingly they really enjoyed the waterfalls by 3 months of age and that water wasn’t so warm. @hbgoodie

09.01.2022 As hard as the postpartum period is, try to enjoy this special and very brief time with your baby. Many families don’t have family support and it can all get pretty overwhelming at times. They grow up so quickly so try to embrace the tuff times with the magical moments. I remember when people told me this when my babies were little. I didn’t grasp just how fast that time would fly. I think I was so overwhelmed with exhaustion and how hard it all seemed those first few months. Now when I look back I cherish those moments of washing nappies by hand and the endless nights awake feeding. Do you have a good support network? If not can you see anyway you could improve your situation?

08.01.2022 The little star of today’s baby massage class at Nambour Community Centre. These free Infant Massage workshops are generously hosted by @thrivingfamilies If you’d like to join us for the next three week workshop starting end of May your baby will need to be more than one month old and not crawling yet. Please make a booking before coming along. I hope to see you there.

08.01.2022 This little fellow was born 2 days ago at our local hospital. He’s about an hour old in this photo. I love watching babies those first couple of hours. Often they are highly alert, especially if no epidural has been administered. Those first precious couple of hours are like no other time in your child’s life. Be sure to savour this time and make sure the people around you respect your space and need for quiet and connection.

06.01.2022 Oh yeah bring on the milk Mama! Milky WayBreastfeeding Tea is fantastic support for breastfeeding mums. The only mums who shouldn’t drink this tea are those with an over supply. Everyone else can enjoy this delicious breastfeeding tea as part of their daily ritual. With the added benefit of digestion support for mum and bub. For those who have drunk this previously the new batch of Goats Rue is super green as seen in the photo. For some reason the tea is pinker than ever before.

06.01.2022 I believe a child experiencing a peaceful birth goes a long way towards a more peaceful world. Changing the world one birth at a time.

05.01.2022 What do you think is happening in this photo? Those are my legs on the right. Carla’s hands in the left. We are at a home birth

05.01.2022 Today was the final class of a three week infant massage workshop. The mums of these babies have been massaging these little ones most every day. All three of them were more than happy to receive a full body massage today, full of smiles and sweet little noises

03.01.2022 I was walking on the beach early morning and the different vibrant colours and variety of seaweed was quite overwhelming. I wish I knew which ones are edible in my area, Sunshine Coast. Does anyone know? Seaweed is so packed full of nutrition and important nutrients, especially when harvested fresh. I remember in my youth on Orcas island going out in the dingy collecting kelp ribbons to dry. Orca whales cruising by in the distance

02.01.2022 Here’s a glimpse of the Christmas birth I just supported. I love how the labouring mum is loving her doggy while contracting. She had enough oxytocin to share around. Video by ... flourish mums and bubs See more
