25.01.2022 I know it might seem like it's been all quiet on the Flourish front for a while. But far from it! I've been working hard on lots of things to help people with personal growth. I'd love you to share the joys and achievements with me! Here's my first one - the new logo! Check out this post and make sure you've subscribed to my web site so that I can share with you all the goodies as I have them ready.

21.01.2022 OMG it's almost here! Why has my Flourish program been taking so long to arrive? Because I've also been writing and publishing a book at the same time! It's a non-religious, practical, feet-on-the-ground introduction to the Buddha and his teachings - which is one of the key planks underpinning the Flourish program. ... ...and it already seems to be hitting the mark! Check out this short post, and click through to the longer article if you'd like to know a bit more! I can't believe it! It's starting to feel real!!!

20.01.2022 How fulfilled are you? Tell us about the path you've walked to here and your interest in a flourishing life. The survey takes around 6 minutes and will spark some interesting reflections. You can download your answers and we'll send you a one-time pre-launch special as a thank you. ... Click here to take the survey: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSeyLS90WOyhlRoUM/viewform

17.01.2022 'Blog posts should be entertaining.' This is what I'm told. But with issue of human bigotry front and centre in our sphere at the moment, I think it's more important than ever to look closely at this issue. This post is a thought-provoker. Possibly the most important one I've ever written. I can tell you how to stop bigotry - which is responsible for most 'bad' human behaviour.... This is an issue of personal growth, because 'racism' as we call it, like all other bigotry, is the action of individuals. Thought, feeling, action. They're the main players here. We swim in this all the time. Every one of us can undermine bigotry. Every day. Even if we don't know a single person with dark skin. Are you up for it? If so, please read on.

17.01.2022 I see the world mindlessly sending itself into a tail spin. It doesn't have to be this way. But to stop the negative eddy we need to practice wise attention. Fiercely!

16.01.2022 I'm happy to say it's now available printed locally in Australia. Just make sure you click on the bit I've circled below....

16.01.2022 I've SOLD OUT!!! (Fine print: of the vast stock of two books held by amazon.) Much confusion as it's meant to be print-on-demand. Will update when it's available again.

16.01.2022 Xmas Not-cheer? While Xmas is a happy time for many, it's also the time of year when loneliness, depression, and visits to psychologists peak. For me, it's the only time of year that I envy my parent-friends for being parents. I have historical associations with excitement of kids, being part of a big family, the beauty of decorations and the Xmas tree adorning a huge pile of gifts (mine was a family of 8 people). I loved Xmas Eve and Xmas morning the most. We often spent Xma...s day with our cousins whom we loved! I chose not to have kids, and my husband and I are wary of our footprint on the earth, so are very careful now about buying 'stuff'. Of course presents don't have to be about buying 'stuff', but my hubby isn't that keen on giving presents at set times anyway. The cousin that I was closest to died tragically 5 years ago (at 45 years of age), and my husband isn't very close to his family. He doesn't have fun associations with Xmas, so isn't really moved to put effort into celebrating. So for me, Xmas is just an echo of those joyful things now; a reminder that they no longer exist for me. My wistful situation is mild compared to many others who don't even have a loving partner to share the day with. Or people who have painful or broken relationships with their families, for whom Xmas brings that all up again as the time when we're 'supposed to' be with our loved ones. If you're someone who's feeling a bit blue (or worse) at this time of year, here's a terrific short article with some mindfulness strategies that really help.

13.01.2022 Be Where You Are Here's my new jumps squad (high jump and long jump). They're all youngies. They are between activities. Well....they're here, but they're not here. ... It was a beautiful afternoon, 25, we were in a beautiful place with nice people doing fun things. Except that they were all somewhere else. Missing their lives. Together but alone. I asked them about it. One of them acknowledged this was true, admitting they are addicted to their phone. Another offered a wafer-thin justification - "my life is run through my phone these days" she says. That's true enough. But it doesn't explain why in that moment, that beautiful moment, she was somewhere else. I feel sad and genuinely concerned when I see this. Our life - our real life - is here, now...with the people we're with, in the place we're in. It was as if that wasn't good enough, stimulating enough, visible enough. I wanted to give them all a PAR card (https://www.flourishpersonalgrowth.com/par). But I don't think they are willing to be woken.

13.01.2022 Research shows that happiness takes a nose-dive in our 30s and 40s, and then re-bounds in our 50s and beyond. So I was shocked this week when I tried to find photos of happy mid-life people on free hi-res photo sites, and found none! If you're in a 35+ age group, you're highly likely to find the Flourish course relevant. Stay tuned here: https://www.flourishpersonalgrowth.com/contact

11.01.2022 Are you one of the lucky ones for whom family Christmas is a warm and wonderful thing? Or does it remind you of how you drew the short straw when it came to family? Is it a time of stress? Of sadness? This messy thing called human life doesn't always serve up what we want. And Christmas time can bring this into the spotlight. Check out today's post, inspired by a Christmas meltdown in my street today. May yours be as nourishing as possible, or at least do no harm.

10.01.2022 This looks like a great resource for beginners!

10.01.2022 This is it. I'm launching my new business. It's about flourishing in life, fuelled by the teachings of the Buddha and modern psychology. It's not perfect or complete yet, but it needs light and life. Check out the new web site, and if you like it, Follow here, and click on 'connect' at the bottom of the web site. https://www.flourishpersonalgrowth.com/

09.01.2022 OMG! It's finally available!! The birth of this baby has taken nine years, but it's finally here. A non-religious introduction to the Buddha's wisdom and how it applies in real modern day life, including work and sport. It answers all the questions that tend to arise for newcomers, and gives a modern, practical, down to earth explanation of the key teachings.... This is a key source I'm drawing on the Flourish programs I'm building. The Buddha's teachings are all about how to stop making a mess of our difficult times and live rich, full, flourishing lives. If you're interested, please do check it out. If you like it, PLEASE rate and review it on Amazon so that we can help more people find it. This is surreal!!!

09.01.2022 Finding it hard to stay motivated at the moment? Hard to stick to commitments? Then on top of that disappointment, you punish yourself with criticism for falling off the wagon? Here's a wonderful replacement for that critical voice - curiosity.

08.01.2022 Which is more eye catching - road or rooftop? Ok, I can't believe I'm writing this, but FINALLY, after ooh, only 6 years (!!) in draft I'm actually publishing my book - a secular introduction to the Buddha and his teachings. I need your help to choose a cover concept. These aren't finished yet, but please tell me - which one would catch your eye in a book shop or make you click on it in Amazon, to read the blurb? Even better if you could tell me why!... I've been asked SO many times for a good non-religious introduction for beginners, and I could never whole-heartedly recommend one. So I wrote it! It dovetails so well with the online course I'm developing for Flourish, so I decided to finish in time to launch. More on that soon. It's SO exciting!

05.01.2022 Our need for connection An important need that Flourish will be focusing on is our need for connection with others. There are many wonderful things about our modern societies, but we have paid a heavy price. We no longer truly feel connected - like we have a natural and reliable connection with a group of people. Our tribes, if we have them, are far flung geographically, and not a part of our daily lives. It's easy to feel adrift and disconnected.... This article from The School of Life describes it beautifully.

04.01.2022 If you have any interest in personal growth, I need to hear from you.....
