22.01.2022 Children love to play and explore. We’re finding that when vegetables become a curious adventure, children start being brave at trying new fresh healthy foods. One little gem who was previously averse to veggies, took home half of the green peas in this bowl for dinner!! So cool to positively impact on health. You’re invited to bring your kids to explore our garden this weekend ... who knows what food adventures lie in wait

22.01.2022 Listen to Anni speak about our passion and our garden. Big thanks to Wendy and Helen from Stored Naturally

17.01.2022 The food pantry at Toowoomba Community Baptist Church is back online after Covid shutdown, so very happy to put some beautiful produce in the fridge for those in need. If you’re looking for a holiday activity with the kids, tomato-hunting is a great sport available at this location anytime!

16.01.2022 Our team worked hard today clearing and preparing a bed in preparation for spring . Riley harvested some huge carrots which he gave to Sabira who will cook it up green bits and all! Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning, so good to be together and our usual food drop offs for TCBC pantry and Emerge happened as well .

15.01.2022 Access to good food is a basic human right ... find out how food insecurity contributes to generational poverty and much more. Many thanks to Wendy and Helen from Stored Naturally.

15.01.2022 Today marks a special milestone for Flourish PYO ... we have officially become a social enterprise with our first sale of gorgeous chemical-free (organic but not certified) edible flowers. In this way we hope to future-proof our free community gardens and education programs to improve the mental, physical and social health of our community. We are honoured to garnish the exquisite meals served at Rosalie House Winery and Cellar Door https://www.rosaliehouse.com.au/ . If you own a cafe or cake decorating business and are interested in our edible flower range, please call 0435418646 Monday to Friday 9-3 . #BuyLocal #supportlocal #healthyeating #InvestInHealth

15.01.2022 We loving having kiddies visit the garden! Last week, the Empowered Family Day Care group learned about chickens and the role they can play at home or in the garden. If your play group, school group or day care would like to visit in 2021, please contact us at [email protected].

15.01.2022 "Projects that involve children and adults in growing food appear to have a positive effect on (vegetable) consumption, especially where there is an element of food preparation". (Noy et al. (2018). New frontiers in community initiatives to increase vegetable consumption. Health Promotion Journal of Australia.) Great news, we're on the right track! Come join us, Tuesdays 9-11am or arrange an alternative time for a community group visit.

14.01.2022 Delighted to be joined by a number of family day care groups today for a character book reading in the garden, followed by a fresh food adventure. Photo thanks to Kristin from Bunny and Friends family day care in Highfields.

14.01.2022 We enjoyed a whole day in the garden today. A heartwarming morning teaching little ones from Empowered Family Day Care groups how to plant seeds and seedlings in their very own plot. In the afternoon we spent a very productive hour with the helpful young men from the Clontarf Academy at Toowoomba State High, clearing a bed just for them to grow food from seeds to harvest, taking it home or cooking it up at school and sharing with others . Love this photo of them at the end of the day, proudly throwing their harvests over their shoulders! The joy of seeing young people inspired by learning about growing good healthy food for themselves and the wider community is a beautiful gift in itself. Thank you all berry much.

14.01.2022 Welcome Spring! We’re starting our Community Gardening morning a little later today due to offering transport for keen volunteers. 9.45-11.45am. If you are unwell, please take care and stay home.

12.01.2022 Work has started on our Kitchen Garden project at Lifeworks for our cooking classes (when they start up again) and the kiddies in OSHC who we’ve been working with. Anni has also been working on many garden features with the kids including this fairy garden to encourage outdoor fun and an interest in growing all kinds of wonderful things.

11.01.2022 Check out the size of the sweet potatoes these gentlemen dug up last week! The sunflowers in their patch are almost flowering and they planted corn for the first time. Love our Clontarf sessions!

08.01.2022 Did you know that you can be a local neighbourhood composting host? ShareWaste is an online platform that allows those who have compost bins to connect with those who don't but still want to reduce their environmental impact! Awesome idea. We are currently exploring this on a larger scale in Toowoomba and for our community garden. More info or sign up at https://sharewaste.com/
