25.01.2022 Did this photo by @saltatelier_wedding stop your scroll? And what has it go to do with flowers? I’ll come back to the second question in a bit. Firstly I just want to say I love this image ! And I can’t stop staring at it. Brilliant photographer! There are probably a good few reasons why this pic gives me so much feels. One, I think the photographer did such an incredible job capturing the shot - the veil had so much movement that it draws your eye back to the couple. The mo...ment was captured so beautifully. But I think what appeals to me most as a designer is that it reminds me of what I like doing when making my arrangements. That is to create movement in bridal bouquets and arrangements. This design principle called movement is also known as rhythm. It’s one of the ways designers use to create something that’s aesthetically pleasing. Because when there’s dynamic movement there’s a sense of energy and life! Leave a comment for me if you like to see how movement looks like in floral design!
23.01.2022 Fresh and Dried In this arrangement I’ve incorporated dried florals with fresh ones. While imported dried flowers have been trending the past year I personally prefer naturally dried ones. In ikebana, dried materials can be re-used in different arrangements. So the approach is more sustainable. Any material I spray paint, I try to use them more than once.... This week I wrote a blog post about flowers that dry well and how I’ve incorporated them in my arrangements and other creative work. Click on the link in my bio to read the latest blog post. Please have a read and let me know which idea you liked best. #sustainablefloristry #driedflowerarrangement #driedarrangement #ikebanafreestyle #sydneyikebanaflorist #corporateflowers #receptionflowers #receptiondecor #homedecorideas #minimalistflowers #minimalistflorist #modernflorals #modernfloraldesign #modernflowers
22.01.2022 When ordering flowers for the home or office, do you think of how the arrangement will be viewed? Sometimes our designs need to be modified according to where the arrangements will be placed. If the arrangement is to be placed somewhere lower than eye level like a coffee table, then it needs to look good from above as well ... #coffeetablearrangement #coffeetableflowers #receptionflowers #hotelflowers #restaurantflowers #corporateflowers #homestyling #realestatestaging #realestatetips #propertystagingsydney #propertystaging
16.01.2022 Have a blessed and happy Easter!
12.01.2022 It’s all in the details Just like the details in a wedding dress that make it extra special, this holds true for ikebana or minimalist floral arrangements Are you one for details?
10.01.2022 It’s ok to feel delicate sometimes. Real beauty is in the fragility of your petals. A rose that never wilts isn’t a rose at all. ~ Crystal Woods
09.01.2022 Most versatile flower It comes as no surprise that roses have gotta be one of the most popular wedding flowers featured in bouquets, buttonholes, ceremony flowers, table centrepieces... Its beauty comes in both bud form and fully open blooms.... Easily accessible as standard roses are practically available all year round in a variety of colours. If you like scent then the garden varieties will be the way to go but they are at their best around mid-spring to fall. Still, remember there are no absolute guarantees when we are dealing with products of nature. Check with your florist closer to your event date. And any good florist will have a second choice as back-up. Do you love the rose ? Love to hear from you.
06.01.2022 I like what @belandbrio said a few weeks back in a post regarding the strength of Italian Cuisine. Especially about the use of premium quality ingredients and finding the prefect balance of flavours between them. I feel the same when creating my floral arrangements. It’s often a process of finding the right balance in every ingredient or material I use to make a great arrangement. And when I do this well, I’m able to let the natural beauty of flowers shine through my designs... and create amazing work. #keepitsimple #donotovercomplicate @ Sydney, Australia
05.01.2022 Can you imagine a world without colour? When I was playing with colour on Photoshop today, I remembered this question I came across before - do we dream in colour or black and white? Hilariously one time I woke up from a dream, literally thinking to myself- I found my answer! ... Can you guess what my answer was? How about you? Do you know your answer? If not, time to do some research #sydneyikebanaflorist #funwithcolour #dreamflowers #sydneyhillsflorist #minimalistflowers #minimaliststyle #floraltower @ Castle Hill, New South Wales, Australia
04.01.2022 Designers sketch concepts or ideas As a floristry student at TAFE, I had to complete and pass a module on sketching. And we also had to include several design sketches for final assessments. This was super challenging for some students who had very minimal drawing practice in the past. As for me I was fortunate as I had 12 years of art lessons behind me ... These days it’s great there’s Pinterest but if our clients are looking for something original, we still have to revert to the good old skill of sketching our concepts and designs. 02.01.2022 When the pandemic hit last year, I became more determined in looking for ways to extend the lifecycle of fresh flowers so I (and in turn my clients) can enjoy them for longer. Also I believe it's a more sustainable approach to floristry. This week I wrote a new post about flowers that dry well and also giving some ideas on how you can use and display dried florals. As well as tips on how to care for them. You can read it here: https://www.flowersbygwyneth.com.au/get-inspired...-flowers-t/ If you've used dried flowers in other ways, please feel free to share in the comments below. Would love to hear from you. #driedflowers #driedflorals #driedflowerarrangement #driedflowercraft #driedfloweridea
