05.01.2022 Epilepsy Awareness Month Epilepsy runs very close in the family. So we know first hand the struggles they go through each day. Just to name a few, their memory isn’t the best at times, tiredness can kick in very quickly and that’s it their done for the day. But the most important one is their medication, if they forget a dose they can run a risk of a seizure happening within 24-48 hours just depending on how severe their Epilepsy is.... All we ask is just a small amount of change and we would be forever grateful. Epilepsy, it may challenge us, but it will never beat us. We are strong!

02.01.2022 This is me A mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister and everything else in between with Chronic Epilepsy. I have been contemplating in writing this, but you know what, it’s Purple Day and I want to share with you my story and my daily struggles. At times it has been very difficult to go through a day without having a meltdown because everything is just too hard. Especially having to rely on people to do things for me at times, cause I have been so independent throughout my whol...e life. All the medication I have to take twice a day, I could start my own business just kidding! If I forget to take them, I can run the risk of having seizure, and my recovery after a seizure can knock me out for days, thats how bad they get. The side affects from the meds are just as bad, countless of them, but I have learnt to deal with them. Driving, don’t get me started, losing my independence would have to be the hardest part about having Epilepsy. Just the simple things like, if I have forgotten something for dinner, I can’t just race down to the shops and get it. But out of all this difficulty, I have to say, I have formed some most amazing friendships, they have stepped up been there for me. Especially for when I have been admitted to hospital countless times, just as simple as dropping off dinner at my door step or offering to take my girls for the night. Most of all my husband and mother have been my biggest support throughout this whole ordeal. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be able to stay positive. I have to be positive, keep living life as normal as I can and just keep smiling.
