13.01.2022 4 MORNING AYURVEDIC RITUALS Wanting to learn more about what morning rituals you can implement into your day? These are some of our favourites, let us know what yours are Rise before (or with) the sun... We’re talking between 5 am and 7 am. This is considered to be the most auspicious time of day, making it the best time for meditation, taking in knowledge, or self-study. Our advice? Baby stepsstart by getting up just 20 minutes earlier than usual and take it from there. Meditate Whether you call it prayer, meditation or mental hygiene, mindful stillness comes to us most easily in the early morning. Why? Because your brain hasn’t had the opportunity to start overthinking yet or get distracted by everything on your never-ending to-do list. Don’t worry too much about where or how you meditate. Even sitting up in bed with your eyes closed for a few minutes is beneficial. Clean your tongue It sounds weird, but tongue scraping is surprisingly relaxing. To do it the Ayurvedic way, first examine the coating. Depending on what’s there, it could be telling you something about your digestive health. A yellow color indicates that your digestive fire is too hot, for example, and you should reduce spicy, sour and salty foods. Then, use a tongue cleaner to clear off layers of toxins that have accumulated overnight. Drink warm water Before grabbing your morning cup of coffee (which should never be consumed on an empty stomach, by the way) or eating, have some good old H20. Water, particularly warm to hot water, primes your digestive system. You can boost water’s cleansing properties by adding alkalizing lemon or drinking it from a copper mug. www.flowhiveyoga.com See more

11.01.2022 ASHWAGANDHA SLEEP TONIC A traditional herbal remedy for anxiety, stress and insomnia - ashwagandha with warmed nut milk and spices. Gluten free & vegan! Enjoy before bed to help you unwind Ingredients ... 1 cup + 2 tablespoons water 2 heaped tablespoons raw macadamia nuts 1 Medjool date or a teaspoon of raw Manuka honey - teaspoon cinnamon powder 2 pinches of nutmeg powder 2 pinches of clove powder Pinch of fine sea salt 1/3 vanilla bean 1 teaspoon ashwagandha root powder Prepare Add all ingredients (even the vanilla bean no need to scrape the seeds out) in a blender and whizz till smooth and creamy. Transfer to a pot and heat gently. To serve, add a sprinkle of cinnamon powder. In my photos, I used cinnamon, freeze dried plums, dried rose petals and cornflowers. 05.01.2022 Tumeric Golden Milk for Better Sleep Ingredients 1/2 cup brewed chamomile tea warm 1 &1/2 cup almond milk hot... 2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp ashwagandha 1 tsp virgin coconut oil 1/2 tsp grated ginger 2 Black Peppercorns crushed 1 tsp cinnamon powder 1/4 tsp cardamom powder *Optional 2 tsp raw organic honey or pure maple syrup for the vegan version In a mortar add the turmeric, cinnamon, grated ginger, cardamom, ashwagandha, peppercorns and coconut oil, and mix with a pestle to obtain a paste. Add one or two chamomile teaspoons if necessary. Divide the paste into two mugs, and pour over hot almond milk and chamomile tea. Mix to combine and serve warm.
