If we look below the labels, and beneath the words, there is the wordless communication of the body that provides us with a way of identifying what and how we are feeling. There is a an intricate richness that exists by bringing awareness and listening to the language of the body. It is from this place where you can experience the... yet yo be heard places that can allow for insight, freedom, healing and change to occur, but to name a few. It is also a way of being able to process uncomfortable emotions, uncertainty and what might trigger us. It’s not as scary as you might think. You will be safely guided and supported in your process to slow down and engage with your body. 15.01.2022 I have one word for you. CURIOSITY. I wish I had come across this a couple of decades ago when I started on my healing journey. I stopped and started many times, sat on the fence, spiritually bipassed and went into major avoidance. Why? Because I was scared. Scared of what I would find, of what I wouldn’t find, who would be there, who would fall away, and mostly, I was afraid of being vulnerable. Little did I know that this one word CURIOSITY would change the way I viewed th...e journey. Rather than jumping in, rather than being overwhelmed by the fear of the fear, being curious allows one to become interested in what is there. It invites one to take small steps, slowly, approaching the journey with a sense of intrigue and wonder. There will be many ups and downs, and these are what makes the journey interesting, rich and intricate. 15.01.2022 What acts of kindness do you engage in? When you display kindness to those around you, do you also partake in the practice of showing kindness to yourself? Being kind means different things to each of us. If kindness shown to others isn’t returned or accepted by the self, then are we really being kind to all living things? Showing kindness to ourselves might be difficult if our primary caregivers were critical of us. This can lead us to having a harsh inner critic that might... make us feel unworthy of receiving gestures of kindness. You may wish to bring gentle awareness to the part that is critical and let it know you can hear it. Perhaps it would like to be asked how it feels from its point of view. When the parts of us that have no voice to be heard, or outlet to be expressed are safely given the opportunity to let us know how they feel, freedom and relief come. This is often the birthplace for self compassion and kindness, as we hear the parts of us that have yet to be heard. This has made a big difference to how I relate to myself. The harsh inner critic that was once my constant companion is but a whisper. This voice has been replaced with kindness and encouragement. 11.01.2022 With the flowering of the Bottlebrush, nature once again reminds us that change is a constant in life. The Bottlebrush, being one of the flowers in the Australian Bush Flower Essence range helps one to cope with major life change and to let go. Letting go is a necessary part of change. It can also be challenging given that letting go can create a sense of uncertainty, leaving us to face the unknown. Our nervous systems gravitate towards what is familiar so the prospect of ch...ange and facing the unknown can create a series of adaptive coping responses as we attempt to manage feelings of fear of the unknown. Perhaps we can invite in a sense of curiosity which can allow us to move towards the unknown by taking smaller steps and inviting in a sense of interest about what comes next. I have personally found taking this approach allows the freeze response that fear can bring to dissipate, allowing for a smoother transition on my nervous system. Curiosity is one of the elements of the Inner Relationship Focusing approach. Interested curiosity can allow us to slow down and bring awareness to how we are feeling about change, allowing us to safely navigate leaving the shore, in search of discovering new terrain. 10.01.2022 Happy World Happiness Day! What makes you happy? How does being happy feel in your body? Given the onset of Covid, many of us may have realised that we haven’t been able to engage in some of the activities that traditionally make us happy, such as connecting with loved ones or going on holidays. We are fortunate here in Australia to be able to once again engage in these activities In some cases, we’ve been forced to redefine what happiness means for us, and what activiti...es we can undertake to bring us joy. I consider myself lucky, because my work brings about a deep sense of fulfilment and happiness. Prior to Covid, my primary role was working as an in-house wellbeing therapist in corporate offices. Supporting people to feel good and being able to connect to others brings me a sense of happiness from the inside. During Covid restrictions, I had to shift my focus to invite in other joys that allow me to experience a sense of happiness. One thing that brings me immense happiness is connecting to nature. The joy of seeing a flower for the first time makes me happy. Noticing bees and butterflies float from plant to plant, hearing bird song and the rustling of leaves as the wind blows. When I experience happiness, I feel it from the inside, as if a warm bubble has burst inside my chest, slowly releasing a feel good gas that embraces my whole being. I savour these moments by allowing my body all the space and time it needs to take in this feeling as deeply as it would like. We drink from her waters, we are nourished by the bounty produced from her land. We breathe air that is filtered by the trees. Through nature, we witness the meaning of change being a constant in life. The sun keeps rising, the seasons come and go and life keeps moving, no matter how slowly. When times are tough, and it appears that we are stuck or h...ave lost our way, may we take solace in nature. Perhaps we are entering a phase or rest, so that we may germinate the next chapter. Perhaps the feeling of being stuck is signifying a breakthrough, the way a seedling readies itself before it emerges from the soil.
