Among the most common adverse life events are physical, psychological and sexual abuse, divorce of parents, growing up without financial or emotional support, family members who suffer from substance abuse and bullying, among ...many others. Some people may handle those situations well and others may be strongly impacted by them, it will depend on their history, their genetics, resilience and their actual state during the incident. 24.01.2022 How do we live well? One of the ways is to follow our own inclinations, taking our time with things. When we are in our shadows or anxious, we move too fast (fight or flight). We become uncomfortable when we don’t know the answers to issues or when facing the unknown. ... When we can slow down the pace and become more contemplative we can engage our nervous system to feel safer and allow things to be the way they are, breathing through things. Meditation is wonderful, reading a book, sitting in nature or spending time with a good friend can help us reset. When we take our time, we give ourselves chance to have our own second opinions and rethink our lives, finding new perspectives. The world is changing so rapidly that it can be a true effort sometimes to slow down the pace, specially in big cities. Have you noticed that to be true? We are here to help you with this process if you struggle with resetting your nervous system and in finding new perspectives. Check our in bio

20.01.2022 During sleep the brain moves through different stages. REM sleep stands for Rapid Eye Movement and its when the eyes move rapidly in various directions processing information and emotions which occurred during the day. REM occurs about 90 min after a person falls asleep and every 90min after that. Deep sleep is another important stage when the brain is consolidating memories, detoxifying, immune system is energised, hormones are balanced. We need deep sleep to rejuvenate an...d repair. During REM sleep is when dreams are likely to occur. Dreams are a natural process. Nightmares are different and can be repetitive and highly disturbing. One of the main theories about nightmares is that it is a part of ourselves that needs healing or trapped information that needs resolving, especially with a recurring theme. Some therapies are particularly useful in resolving recurring nightmares. EMDR and Memory Reconsolidation are some examples. They can access the link between the nightmares and its symbology and the underlining discomfort or trauma event its related to. The dreams are targeted during the sessions and the memories are reprocessed. EMDR for example utilises bilateral stimulation to process the information and neutralize the emotional charge, leading to new neuro-pathways. The person may gain insights during the session about what was driving the dreams in some cases. If this happens these areas of insight can also be targeted. Once processed, the dream image generally does not recur. If you have recurring dreams disturbing your sleep and keeping you awake at night let us know here and pm us if you want to know how we can help you. #EMDRfornightmares #flowinnature #sleeppeacefully #sleepdeep

13.01.2022 TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE CHANGED THE WAY YOU LIVE? Trauma changes how our brain responds to danger signals. It can manifest itself in a myriad number of ways: flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, panic attacks, bodily aches and pains. Perhaps you keep replaying the same disturbing thoughts over and over in your head or you find yourself unable to focus. You may experience muscular tension, difficulty sleeping, or a constant state of bodily agitation and over-reaction like you can ne...ver stay still or let your guard down. EMDR therapy has been shown, by numerous randomized controlled studies, to help individuals to identify and reprocess these stuck parts of one’s self so that old emotions and beliefs can be released. The result can be more freedom to choose differently and new perspective. WHAT’S EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy allows you to recall, reprocess, and move past unpleasant memories. Rather than avoid the past altogether, EMDR helps you to properly digest your memories so they’re no longer disturbing to you. It is a recognized and government approved method to treat symptoms of PTSD. Whatever past events may be influencing your present, this method will allow you to overcome them, to break free and reach your full potential. #releaseYourFLOW #FLOWinNature
13.01.2022 Have you heard of EMDR? EMDR has been used in different parts of the world for the past 25 years to not only successfully treat PTSD but also to help with other health issues including depression, anxiety, panic attacks, grief, nightmares, addictions and phobias. In 1989, EMDR was reported as a successful PTSD treatment and since then more than 30 scientific studies have approved EMDR Therapy as one of the most effective treatments for trauma. Usually, an EMDR Therapy session... lasts around 60 to 90 minutes. The type of problem, life circumstances and previous trauma will determine how many treatment sessions you may need. During the EMDR, your therapist will work with you to identify specific problems or memory as a focus for the treatment session. During the therapy, the client will be asked to think about the distressing event, while the therapist will guide the client to move his/her eyes from side to side. Bilateral stimulation of the eyes (auditory or tactile) stimulates the brain to search for information and reprocess its content. The memory will become more distant or faded and less distressing. The negative feelings will also be released and the client will be more likely to create new associations and meanings. EMDR Therapy is quicker than other trauma treatments and the benefits continue to be experienced long after treatment has finished. Have you had any experience with EMDR? PM us if you are interested in knowing more. #EMDRTherapy #PTSD #flowinnature #northernbeaches

08.01.2022 Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Hypnotherapy and NLP have in common their focus on resolving present issues and helping the client discover and move towards their hopes for the future. Unlike other forms of psychotherapy, which focus on delving into events of the past, these brief therapies utilize stories, questions and coaching to support the client in opening up to multiple viewpoints and more possibilities for their future. They are goal oriented and solution-based ra...ther than problem-oriented. They take the approach that the person already knows what they have to do to change their lives and through the right questions they can find the answers. They may assist the client who is feeling stuck, in relationship problems, addictions, childhood issues, problems related to lack of direction, discipline and focus, behaviors concerns, performance issues, difficulties in learning and school related problems. As a person brings attention to the present moment and practices this technique throughout the whole day, he/ she will improve listening skills, improve on ability to complete tasks and have increased focus and concentration. Mindfulness has been associated with improved memory and enhanced learning abilities and balanced mood. It become a way of living once learned and practiced consistently.

06.01.2022 Hand writing to-do lists has an incredible power in assisting those tasks and projects to materialize. Writing daily lists and a separate list for your long term goals works well, assigning small steps to the big goals so they dont feel overwhelming or too big of a task. We often have some many thoughts popping into our minds every day about things we have to do and theres not much room in our short term memory to juggle and remember them all.... Thats when list writing by hand helps us focus our attention and plan. Dont worry about having to follow the list in a particular order but perhaps chose the priority tasks or jobs for that day. I often write my lists and number the item in the order I would like to do them, that feels more fluid and natural for me. Dont put too much pressure on yourself to finish the list in one day. Allow yourself to leave some of those jobs to the next day or so. When you find your lists later you will notice that all the tasks have been mostly, if not all done. We get such a good dopamine feeling rushing through our bodies and feelings of satisfaction when we move forward with our plans and tick those items off the list! Share with us your experiences with list writing :) #flowinnature #listwriting #handwritinglists #getorganised #getjobsdone #focusandsuccess

02.01.2022 Our true selves are like the trunk and roots of a tree. Its always there, solidly observing everything that appears and disappears. The leaves that grow and eventually fall, the baby branches that with time stiffen and dry out, the birds coming and going, the sky moving from day to night and from sun to clouds. Noticing all. The branches are like the various parts of ourselves. Trying to protect us for various reasons and with good intentions but not necessarily leading to t...he best outcomes. Most of the time caught up in the past and not realizing it. Those parts were often young and vulnerable, carrying wounds, hurt, shame, unmet needs and loneliness. The branches are not the wounds, they represent the wounds. Meditation, tai chi, Qi gong, yoga, being in nature and some forms of therapy help us connect back to our roots and trunk and gives the perspective to see our other parts in action. Returning often to ourselves gives us the qualities we all already have of focus, calm, kindness, confidence, compassion, openness, creativity, courage and feelings of being connected and safe. Is there a heart/spirit presence or is it temporarily clouded by #traumas , stress or wounds? We don’t have to live with our symptoms or feel bound by a diagnosis. There are always different ways to look at a presentation and the human landscape and there are as many ways to #heal Symptoms are often an expression or sign of something bigger wanting to be healed or listened to, because maybe it is time for it to heal! If we can just #listen to our bodies and pay attention to the situations happening around us, we can gain #insight as to what we need to do. When we become more #aware and curious to find out what is going on instead of jumping straight into worry, we can start to bring towards us the help we need.
