25.01.2022 Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is the most common type of incontinence. It is the involuntary leaking of urine with any activity that places pressure through the abdominal cavity eg. coughing, sneezing or skipping. People would often report that they couldn’t hold their urine in with one or more of these types of activities, and that it is occuring often enough to be bothering them. #Womenshealthphysio #womenshealthphysiotherapy #postnatal #pregnancyphysio #postpartum #postnatalhealth #pregnancyhealth #pregnancy #pregnancyphysiotherapy #prolapse #womenshealth #physio #physiotherapy #physicaltherapy #physiotherapist #physicaltherapist

17.01.2022 In 2009, I wrote a business plan that envisioned a place where people could not only recover and rehabilitate through injury and illness, but also help people work on all aspects of their health and well-being. After 3 years, it is so exciting for me to watch Flow grow into what it is today. Our vision and philosophy is centred around providing access to high quality healthcare that empowers people to help themselves through education, hands on treatment, exercise and... health promotion. Here is a little clip that shows a little bit about what we do. I hope you enjoy it. Jason. flowphysioco.com See more

15.01.2022 SHOULDER INJURY | AC JOINT A common injury in contact sports like BJJ, rugby and AFL is a fall to the point of the shoulder that injures the AC joint. The AC joint (acromioclavicular joint) is located between the end of your collarbone and shoulder blade and acts provides stability and motion to the shoulder complex.... Injuries are commonly graded using the Rockwood Classification as shown. Management of AC joint injuries follow the general principles of all ligament injuries and will be dependant on the grade (type) and the end goals of the individual. As a general rule, surgical intervention may be indicated for type 4, 5 and 6 AC joint injuries and type 3 injuries that do not respond to non-surgical management. Like all injuries, the rehabilitation and exercise or loading exposure will vary from person-to-person. As a general guide, initial management begins immediately and aims to minimise bleeding and swelling and treatment aims to: promote tissue healing prevent stiffness protect from further damage strengthen shoulder musculature to provide dynamic stability #physio

12.01.2022 This week is both women’s health week and birth trauma awareness week. Today is R U OK day. Birth Trauma is a huge issue in our society and we believe there needs to be better education, awareness and treatment for women and for them to know that they are not alone.... 1 in 3 women in Australia classify their birth as a traumatic experience and 1 in 4 experience life long injuries associated with their birth. This can have a significant impact on both mental and physical health and often lead to fear avoidance of activities they love and relationship breakdown is common. We believe that if every woman had access to women’s health physiotherapy and well informed birth choices these numbers could be much less. Below is a link to a petition which is aiming for women’s health physiotherapy in both the pregnancy and the postnatal period, to be a routine part of care for ALL women. Remember to ask any new mums, R U OK? https://www.change.org/p/the-hon-greg-hunt-mp-pelvic-health
