24.01.2022 Hey guys we have some exciting news!! Fitness Local padstow will be partaking in the Push Up Challenge in July! Many of us struggle with our mental health or know people close to our hearts that do. This is a great opportunity to be able to raise awareness while getting fit at the same time. HOW IT WORKS... Complete your push-ups any time and any place, as long as you meet the daily target. Each day, the target number of push-ups to complete will reflect a different statistic to do with mental health in Australia. For example, 45 push-ups to recognise the percentage of Australians who will experience a mental health condition over their lifetime. Over the course of 21-days you'll be challenged to complete 3,128 push-ups in total, representing the number of lives lost in Australia due to mental health issues in 2017. 23.01.2022 Fitness Local Padstow has joined the Push up Challenge this year to raise awareness for people who struggle with their mental health. The event will be raising funds for Headspace, an organisation dedicated to help those who need mental services. Why 3,128 push ups? Sadly this is the statistic of people who lost their battle with mental health in 2017. We all know someone close to our hearts struggling with a mental illness, or for those who are afraid to speak up this night... is for you. On the 24th of July we will be running our Push Up Challenge, our goal is to get the 3,128 push ups in one day! We will host an open night where you’ll be able to come in and do a few push ups to help towards our count. We will be doing lucky door prizes, Inbody scans, supplement tastings and free fitness assessments. Cash donations will be accepted on the night. The gym will open its doors from 6am-10.30am and 4pm-8.30pm everyone is welcome to drop between these times to help complete the challenge. Here’s how to do a conventional barbell deadlift in 8 steps: -Step up to and under a barbell with your feet angled slightly outward, at hip width apart.... -Bend over and grip the barbell with both hands at shoulder width. -Bend your knees until the bar almost touches your shins. -With a neutral spine, brace your stomach. -Pick the bar up off the ground (It helps to think press DOWN into the floor with your feet through your heels). -Continue pressing down with your legs until the barbell passes your knees, then thrust your hips forward until you are standing up. -Reverse your movement until the bar returns to its starting place on the ground. -High five yourself for you doing a deadlift.
