25.01.2022 It’s Intentional Osteopathic Healthcare week ! What is osteopathy? Osteopathy is one of 15 regulated healthcare professions in Australia.... It looks at a person's individual medical history and environmental factors to understand the root cause of their pain and develop a personalised plan to help them manage their pain and move better. Discover osteopathy. Find out more via the link in the bio. #IOHW2021 #findanosteo Posted @withregram @osteopathyau
25.01.2022 Jessica Cohen has been with us since November 2016, when she came onboard as a maternity leave cover for Alison. We were really lucky to have had her stay on and she is a popular practitioner. While she welcomes any challenge, Jess has a particular interest in treating women throughout pregnancy, post-partum, babies and kids.
23.01.2022 Need a Christmas Gift idea? We have Gift Vouchers available! You can choose whether to gift a massage, an osteo appointment, or simply a monetary amount so that the recipient can choose which treatment they would prefer. Available in the clinic or send us a DM and we'll sort it out for you!!
21.01.2022 There's so much more to Osteopathy than just hands-on treatment! Therefore your Osteo should be someone who works WITH you, not just ON you! We think you should find someone who is happy to be a part of your healthcare team, who cares about your goals, your pain, and your experience. If you're looking for someone who fits this description - we'd love to be on your team!!
21.01.2022 We love that you trust us with your family and friends, your referrals mean the world to us!
21.01.2022 Sometimes adjusting to changes in your surroundings (such as the beginning of a sports season, a new activity, more hours at work) is easier with a little bit of help. Part of the Osteopathic philosophy states that 'the body is self healing mechanism' which is evidenced by our body's ability to heal cuts, scrapes, colds etc. But sometimes your aches and pains might need a little bit of help to head in the right direction, and that's where hands on treatment, activity modification and rehab exercises come in.
20.01.2022 Extras benefits for the majority of Health Funds are available for the calendar year. This means if you haven't used many of your benefits, now might be a good time to check in with your dentist, optometrist or osteopath. And if you have used yours up for the year - January 1 in nearly here!!
19.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 2020 was.....a doozy! Here's to hoping 2021 brings a little bit more certainty, a little bit more predictability and plenty of health and well-being!

17.01.2022 Motion is Lotion and Rest is Rust While sometimes it may seem counterintuitive movement will help manage almost all painful conditions. Our bodies are made to move! Acute injuries such as sprained ankles benefit from non-aggravating, controlled movements to help shift swelling, improve blood flood and deliver quality nutrients to the healing tissues.... In more chronic conditions such as arthritis or chronic pain movement can help your joint fluid to be nice and lubricating, to transport more nutrients to your cartilage and to strengthen muscles. If we think on an even bigger bodily scale - more movement requires increased breathing which helps to get your lungs, rib cage and all the associated muscles and joints moving as well. So if in doubt - get moving!
17.01.2022 Our mobility classes are designed to get you moving through a wide range of motion and improve your overall mobility long term. We incorporate a mix of activation, end range, strength and flexibility work at varying levels to improve overall joint range of motion and stability. Stability is one of the key factors in improving your range of motion: the more stable a joint feels, the more movement your nervous system is likely to allow around it! Not sure our mobility classes are for you? Pop us a message or book in online to attend your first class for free!
16.01.2022 Our AxIT system allows us to test the strength of almost any movements and compare side to side differences in peak strength and power. Why does this help you? It means when we program exercises we don't just give you a long list in the hope of covering everything. Instead we can give you specific exercises, based on your data. Then we can re-test and assess your progress and make appropriate progressions or changes to your exercises. Wondering whether this might be appropriate for you? Get in touch! We're happy to answer questions.
16.01.2022 These are some of our favourite stretches for tight shoulders and they make a regular appearance in our mobility classes. This month we have been focusing on flexibility and have included more longer hold stretching in our classes. Spending a little extra time in a stretch can create a space for you to focus on your breath, tune in to your body and notice any areas you may be holding tension. Breathing plays an important role in helping the nervous system to regulate and ca...lm down: both have a significant impact on flexibility and mobility. We have been enjoying a slower approach to our classes so far this month, next month we will add some more challenging movements and exercises as we shift our focus to Mobility. Book in via the link in our bio, and, as always, your first class is free
16.01.2022 Fluid Motion Osteopathy is 2 years old today! There is no way we would have predicted the year that 2020 brought to us all, but I am so proud of how we have managed to navigate it - as practitioners, as a clinic and as a community. Thank you always for all your support. You trust us with your bodies, your pain and your stories. And you trust us with those of your friends and family as well. We are forever grateful.... Here's to the next 12 months - whatever that might bring!! - Alison
16.01.2022 Low back pain episodes are common - between 1 in 7 and 1 in 4 Australians will experience low back pain at some point. When experiencing an episode of low back pain it's common for patients to report pain when they're trying to do their normal day-to-day activities, when exercising and even when trying to sleep. One of the things we know with low back pain is that movement and exercise are an important tool in recovery. BUT, working out what to do, how much to do and when can... be entirely overwhelming. We can help you by assessing and diagnosing your low back pain, and then coming up with an individualised plan to get you out of pain and back doing what you love! Appointments can be booked online or by calling 6681-4773. If you'd like to have a chat with one of us about your back pain and whether we might be able to help, please don't hesitate to get in touch, we're here to help!
15.01.2022 We have listened to your feedback and changed the times for our Monday and Wednesday online mobility classes. We will now be starting at 7am AEDT (NSW time), 6am AEST (Qld time). You can sign up online @ www.fluidmotionosteo.com.au - and your first class is free!
14.01.2022 One of the common misconceptions about Osteopathy that we come across is that we only treat backs. Osteopaths are actually trained to treat pain, injuries and dysfunction throughout the whole musculoskeletal system. Because we operate from an integrated and holistic model, if you come in with back pain, we will often look further afield (for example feet, knees and hips) to see what else might be contributing, rather than only at the site of pain.
12.01.2022 Dry Needling is now available at Fluid Motion Osteopathy! Jo Meon, our new Osteopath, offers dry needling and cupping as part of her Osteopathic treatments. Dry needling targets trigger points that are believed to trigger local and referred pain and can cause restricted range of motion, pain, and muscle weakness.... Often patients find dry needling particularly helpful with headaches, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain and lower back pain. If you have had success with Dry Needling previously, or think it could help you, Jo is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
10.01.2022 What one of our regular Mobility Class attendees has to say about changes they've noticed since starting our classes in April last year We run our classes on Mondays and Wednesdays and have an option to subscribe for the month or join in when you can. In May we will shift our focus from Strength and Stability to End Range, where we will be working towards control all the way through to our end range of motion. Classes can be done live, or in your own time with a recording of the class. As always, your first class is free!
09.01.2022 The benefit of our online mobility classes is that you can do them whenever suits you, and with whoever happens to be around - even if sometimes they make you work a little harder!!
07.01.2022 Zac Carroll joined us in May 2019. He was an absolute life saver, arriving just days after Alison broke her hand and had to take 8 weeks off work. Zac generally uses a slightly more gentle approach to treatment than Alison and Jess but is known to get great results. His particular interests lie in the treatment and management of shoulder pain, low back pain disorders, sports and exercise rehabilitation, workplace ergonomics and postural complaints.... Zac is available in the clinic on Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday mornings, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings.
07.01.2022 We recently had Ben from @_thedesignspace come and take some photos of our team in action. Turns out we scrub up alright!!
05.01.2022 Mother's Day is coming! Don't forget to spoil your Mum. While flowers are nice, you can do even better! How about a Fluid Motion Osteopathy voucher that she can use for Osteopathy or Massage Therapy? Vouchers can be purchased in the clinic or by sending us a DM. Even better - for every voucher you buy, we'll give you $10 off your next treatment as well!
04.01.2022 Sarah joined our team in April 2019 and is trained in deep tissue and sports massage. She has a firmer approach to treatment, but is able to adapt her style to suit those who prefer a less intense massage. Sarah is NKT level 1 certified and uses movement screening and manual muscle testing to compliment her treatments and provide you with a more specific and individual treatment. She is available in the clinic Tuesday to Friday and every second Saturday.... #massagetherapy #ballina #northernrivers #northernnsw
04.01.2022 Thanks to the ongoing juggles of childcare, partners and a school our schedules have changed a bit this year. Swipe to see when your favourite practitioners are working.
02.01.2022 We are taking a short break over the Christmas and New Year period, but will still be around for both Osteopathy and Massage Therapy Treatments. You can book online at www.fluidmotionosteo.com.au, or call us on 6681-4773. Please note that we will not have reception over this period, so if you call, please leave a message and we'll get back to you as quickly as possible!
01.01.2022 Massage isn't just for sore muscles! While most of us book a massage for achey and stiff muscles, it can be helpful with many other things including: nervous system regulation; improved mood; stress reduction; improved range of motion and posture. Studies show that massage may have a significant impact on the immune system, and help with decreasing inflammation, both of which are essential to overall wellbeing. As if we needed any more reason to book in for a massage
01.01.2022 Sarah is passionate about health, fitness and human movement integrity. From a young age, she has been involved in multiple different sporting activities and has found her niche in Olympic weightlifting. Sarah has studied courses in personal training, nutrition, corrective exercise, sports massage and neurokinetic therapy. All of which have shaped her approach as a massage therapist. Sarah believes that the body is an integration of each individuals unique experience, and tha...t there is no one fits all when it comes to treatment. The body is incredibly efficient at finding ways to do what we ask of it. As we move, patterns are created and programmed into the brain to allow us to do our daily activities. These patterns may help us get the job done, but are not necessarily sustainable, and can lead to tightness, dysfunction and pain. Sarah is a firm believer in finding the source of the pain, rather than just treating symptoms of it.
