17.01.2022 Celebrating International Podiatry Day! A great time to reflect on the amazing job our feet and lower limbs do in our daily lives. They are our base of support. The way our bodies interact with the ground. They take on huge loads and stresses each day as our first line shock absorber, for our bodies. They aid our balance and give us the freedom to walk, run, hop, skip and jump!... 16.01.2022 Bone Stress Injuries... We continue our series on common foot and ankle injuries in sport. Bone stress injuries are seen within the foot and lower leg each year, from recreational runners through to AFL players. These types of injuries can sideline someone for long periods. Thought... this would be a great time to highlight the ‘What, Where and Why’ of bone stress related injuries. Read more: https://www.fluidmovementpodiatry.com.au/2020/08/21/1107/

11.01.2022 Going back into lockdown is a challenge for us all! Staying active is possibly even more important now. The great benefits to a simple walk or run can be tremendous for both our physical and mental health. Don't let a niggling pain or injury hold you back. The initial Covid-19 lockdown saw us help a number of patients who had developed a range of foot and ankle injuries. With gyms and other recreational sport on hold, for a lot of us this changed the way we we...re able to keep active. A lot people increased their walking level, started running or even returned to running. These sudden changes in the way we exercise can often put us at risk of injury. As we enter a second lockdown period we wanted to reach out and let you know we will remain open and are here to help. Fluid Movement Podiatry has a particular interest in assisting people return to activity following injury. We are passionate about keep people moving and enjoying an active lifestyle. We have seen a variety of cases, ranging from heel/arch pain to calf or Achilles issues with people forced to alter their lifestyle and activity during lockdown. Don’t let these things hinder your ability to remain active. Stay safe and active, All the best Fluid Movement Podiatry

10.01.2022 Have you caught the Covid-19 running bug? I know I definitely have. There has certainly been more people out in my local area running. Thought this would be a great opportunity to reach out to those that might be out there running for the first time or even those who have shifted from their usual gym based training, to include running. It can be a different experience for everyone and thought a few helpful tips would be beneficial. Having returned to running myself following ...the end of the cricket season I was reminded about the forces and stress that muscles, tendons and joints are under during running. Running can seem like a pretty basic activity. Put on some shoes and off you go. However, research published, reports that up to 85% of runners will develop an injury in a given year. With the rate of running injuries being so high, maybe there’s more to it! Read more in our blog: https://www.fluidmovementpodiatry.com.au//have-you-caught/

08.01.2022 With the brisk winter mornings already here, it’s important to include a good active warm up to get your muscles turning on and ready for exercise. We thought this was a good time to run through a few strategies that I include in my warm up before I set out for a run. In this current environment where gyms are still closed and team sport has yet to re-commence, running may have become our main source of exercise. It is important to make sure we’re warming up properly to reduc...e our risk of injury. Read more: https://www.fluidmovementpodiatry.com.au/2020/06/17/989/
