Today, Eildon Pondage received a bonus 1,500 rainbow trout for the kids (yes, big kids incl...uded) to catch these holidays, weighing around 250g each. 04.01.2022 The Goulburn River has been stocked with 10,000 brown trout yearlings this week, in addition to 150 more stonker rainbows. The Alexandra Bridge got 75 of these ...giants and Walnuts Reserve the other 75. The Eildon Pondage got in on the action too with 120 ex-brood brown trout, averaging 3.5kg each, from our Snobs Creek hatchery down the road. Across the western side of Melbourne, near Ballan, Pykes Creek Reservoir was stocked with 2,000 brown trout yearlings this week. The trout stocking season will draw to an end soon as the weather warms and we’ll turn our attention to releasing bass, cod and yellas amongst other things. Remember it’s important to stay safe when you wet a line. You can fish with up to 10 people, but you should be able to keep a safe distance from one another, wear a fitted face mask and minimise the sharing of equipment. If you’re in metropolitan Melbourne, you must also stay within 25km of home if you’re planning to try your luck this weekend.
