23.01.2022 Flyfishing and Music go hand in hand as they both get you to that place in which only you reside. Crank it up and Enjoy.

20.01.2022 I feel a trip coming on - Covid permitting :) Plenty of "R&R" (Rough and Ready) Flies tied. How the hell do I use all of these? The question is what kind of a trip?

19.01.2022 Did you just break wind Sir? Flyfishing bliss.. bright blue sunlit day, an ever so slight breeze, just enough to shield that acute cone of vision (well at least edging the bets slightly).... And the hatch!! Then there is the joy of the cast..tight loops, precise placement of the fly, perfectly alighting just ahead of that obvious rise. Anticipation heightened.... We all live for those moments afterall they must happen so often if you read the glossy magazines that invariably focus on that trophy fish shotgun thrust at the lens. No fear of mishandling as they are in good (oversize) hands. All good fun ..until... Yep you guessed it, the weather turned shitty! Rain and blowing a gale. Doesn't happen very often does it? So more time at the tying vice, maybe reorganising gear? Hell this must blow over sooner or later. How many flyfishers work around these adverse conditions? Is there a struggle with light lines ending up as a spaghetti mess in your face. And the wind knots..hell! What's the point anyway? At fear of stating the obvious, the point is access to some incredible flyfishing literally at your feet.. well as long as you have a gale doing its best to bowl you over backwards. The reason is pretty clear, if factors such as food, concealment, currents and substructure are considered after which who knows what's in the mind of our piscatorial quarry? But that's all best left to the experts to explain. What is left is the climatic challenge that often puts paid to time on the water. Here is where there is benefit to be gained from that other distant cousin of the sweet water community. Yea talking about the Swoffers. Warning to the dry fly purists..run for the hills... dirty language ahead! Well the wielders of the broomsticks have evolved (or is it devolved) from the fine art to brutal combat. Wind is a fact of life. Therein lies an unlikely sharing of the love.. well its a good thought don't you think? The saltwater gurus may have some ideas and our traditional anglers no doubt already have these skills. But these thoughts are offered to those challenged with those hopeless conditions to consider something other than a 10 to 2 approach. I'll leave the discussion to the experts and then look forward to other theories or fact on lake tidal movement, concealment, wave action and the like. Tight loops and lines.

19.01.2022 Well the stay in the big smoke of Deloraine is almost over and we are heading to Meander tomorrow for a few days fishing Huntsmans Lake. Then for something entirely different the event we missed last year

18.01.2022 There are so many videos covering our passion but not many touch the core of what lies deep within us. Does this movie touch the very essence of what we know is so difficult to explain?

15.01.2022 A touch of Tassie Lakes in Mooloolaba..must be some natural acclimatisation happening

14.01.2022 Lake Leake where we met good friends Des and Vi Charles a year ago. Some great flyfishing already but Sue pulled another "best fish of the day" this morning on Nymph!

09.01.2022 Here's something that gets the discussion going. Having a focus on the salt can certainly effect delicacy in casting. I found that during my last trip to Tassie, finesse at short quarters was the key. Conversely adverse conditions (that is a gale in your face) became a strength as fish came in close to the windblown shore. This video is interesting, his humour is worthy of most Aussies and he strikes a balance that most would appreciate and benefit from. Enjoy!

01.01.2022 The journey continues, fishing has been interesting considering the huge deluge experienced last week. Makes one wonder if it triggered a pre-spawning run?
