25.01.2022 How is it possible to drive over 4000kms across Australia and have rain every day and to see virtually no wildlife? Is that a record? Richard.

25.01.2022 Update from support crew, at 2pm Chris has past the 800km mark. This puts him around Frasers Range. He is looking good. Thank you for all the best wishes and encouragement.

24.01.2022 The weather - it has just started raining and Chris has his wet weather gear on and there is a slight tail wind so all is going well, however I have been looking up the weather and it is not looking good, they are predicting 20-40 mm of rain today and 10-20mm tomorrow with a strong head wind on Wednesday so lets hope their forecast is wrong or its going to get really tough for Chris and crew.

24.01.2022 Crew please pass on this message to Chris Robin and Gwen Gentle wish him all the very best and are following him on the web site.

24.01.2022 Thank you all for your kind words today; they brought a tear to my eye which was much better than those I experienced yesterday. Today we were able to smile a bit = probably because we were warm inside a vehicle and not out in the atrocious weather. Chris M

24.01.2022 Road house at Mundrabilla. This shows how much rain Chris and his Crew have had to face in ths last 24 hours.

22.01.2022 Thank you everyone for your well wishes. Means a lot. Be sure to keep leaving messages during the attempt as the support crew will be passing them on as a cycle along. Chris M

21.01.2022 We on the support crew are all very excited and are still working away at all the fine details that should help the trip go smoothly. Not may sleeps now!! Richard.

21.01.2022 Keen to let everyone know about the Ocean Ride for MS which is coming up at the end of the month. Should be a nice casual charity ride of either 30km or 50km. Anyone interested is welcome to join me and some of our team. http://www.mswaevents.org.au/Ocean-Ride-4-MS/Flying+Cyclists

21.01.2022 Current weather conditions at Eucla are: Rainfall last 24 hours, 41mm ( this exceeds the total August rainfall for Eucla) Wind, Headwind gusting to 31kph. Expected rainfall next 72 hours 30-60mm. These conditions are obviously not conducive to a record attempt time. Richard Marris.

21.01.2022 Just dropped WOBM van that we are using for the attempt around at Sign-a-rama to get all the decals put on. Will load some photos later. Chris M

20.01.2022 Chris has just past Doodlakine which means he has riden about 220klms. Apart from being very cold all is well. In a further 30klms at Merredin there is to be a crew change, Perth Intergrated Health are going to give Chris a quick check over.

20.01.2022 Just a reminder that tomorrow is ride to work day. So there's no excuses not to drag the bike out of the shed.

20.01.2022 About to jump in the van to head down. Sydney here I come. Chris M

19.01.2022 GOOD NEWS! Guiness have (finally) approved the GPO to GPO route. No headaches of leaving from the coast now. Be at Forrest chase for a Midnight departure THIS Saturday Night to see Chris off. - ASH

18.01.2022 Has been a busy morning. Session at PIHC, collected sat phones/mobiles/modem from Telstra, some water bottles from EmbroidMe and now about to give presentation to the Perth Rotary Club.

18.01.2022 It's good to know I'm not the only crazy person out there, and for Michelle, sad to know that I could be doing this long distance cycling stuff for a while.... "Jack, 86, is getting ready to set out on a 2,500k ride from Townville to Darwin - his cause - to raise money for the RFDS" https://sites.google.com/site/jackgriffin2010/

18.01.2022 It is with my greatest sadness that I advise that last night the decision was made to stop this record attempt. The decision was made by the entire support crew and was unanimous, and was largely based on the attempts number 1 rule of safety. Whilst obviously gutted by the outcome, I fully respect their decision. Chris M. Read full details at www.flyingcyclist.com.au

18.01.2022 Just did a photo shoot with the West Australian. Hopefully will be in Saturday's paper. Chris M

15.01.2022 Have just spoken to the crew by sattalite phone made possible by Telstra Country Wide. Chris is going really well. Chris stopped at midnight for 3 hours to eat, shower and have his 90 minute sleep. He is having a bit of a problem with his knees but I am told nothing to worry about Chris can ride through it. They have also given Chris some extra padding on his seat and he has change to his normal road bike. V Marris

13.01.2022 Had a great session with PIHC Sports Massage Therapist, Colin Chapman, last night. Reckons that I feel in good shape for this point in my preparation.

13.01.2022 Chris left the Perth GPO spot on midnight. The weather was calm and about 13C. Passed him going up Greenmount then again at the Lakes turn off. The van is looking good and stands out well and Chris with his Eyres glasses on with the bug Eyres lights on each glass arm stands out well and obviously gives Chris good vision for riding. Saw a couple of good size roo's on the side of the road as well. Vicki Marris

13.01.2022 General warning for those that may want to be in the support crew in a future attempt (if one occurs) - it may result in you getting married. Congratulations to Scott (crew member) and Erin on their recent engagement. This follows Ash (crew member) and Brooke's engagement, and Chris and Michelle's up-coming wedding. :)

13.01.2022 Did a trial run out of the city last night at midnight. Only road for around 15km but it was hard not to be excited. I think Harry was wanting me to slow down a bit. Less than two weeks to go now. Chris M

11.01.2022 I'm a Piscean too and don't normally hear the Horoscopes but I also heard that this morning and took it as a good sign. Richard.

11.01.2022 My body is just starting to talk to me again. Legs are still sore but improving, bruising in my hands has almost gone but chafing is still painful. Weight loss on first day of attempt was 1.7kg (hydration was maintained) and another 600gms on the 2nd day. Didn't measure after then. Chris M

04.01.2022 Well it has been a little while since we've had much talk of cycling, so what better of a reason than Ride to Work day on October 13. It's as simple as that - if you're in the city you might be able to score a free breakfast, otherwise what a great way to burn off some breakfast. Some more info here www.bwa.org.au/ride-to-work

04.01.2022 Chris had a massage in Merredin from the guys from Perth Integrated Health Clinic and then a full massage further down the road he had a slight problem with one knee. But since the massage and some tapeing Chris is feeling fine and cycling well. The new crew are working hard with lots of railway crossings to deal with. They have passed through Bodallin and going strong. Many thanks to Telstra CountryWide V Marris

02.01.2022 Hi all just had an update from the crew Chris is just out of Norseman. The ride has improved since daylight the weather is overcast but no rain. Chris has requested a hot pie from Norseman but we are probably guessing it might be more than one! Vicki Marris

02.01.2022 Starting to get exciting with less than a week until the record attempt starts. Have today been getting all my gear together today, so that I don't have a last minute rush. Well that's the theory anyway. Chris M
