24.01.2022 The Cat Cage is GO! Ron and Percy are like stealthy tigers in their new outdoor escape. Cats are natural born killers - nocturnal predators. Here they will have to be content chasing the occasional huntsman spider inside. No killing the Wildlife naughty kitties!

24.01.2022 9 new Chicks! These lovely chicks were hatched in an incubator. Then one sunny day I put them on the grass near the big chooks and Brok Brok (aka Mother of them all) adopted them all almost immediately. Brok Brok is a Plymouth Rock and my best Broody. A great Mum, a valuable Chook, one of my faves.

22.01.2022 Free ranging fowl are curious and friendly. They always want to help me out with any digging Im doing. And paving. Ok, sometimes they are not so helpful...

20.01.2022 The ducks here refuse to bathe in chlorinated water. Lucky we have an enormous water tank and a great roof to collect water from! Now for some rain please...

20.01.2022 The ducks were acting suspiciously, standing back and watching me feeding the others. The leaf litter was thick on the ground and there was a chill in the air. Something was going on. I investigated.

18.01.2022 Goats in training for travel. They have their first weed removal job on Monday. Im feeding them in the trailer every day so they get used to it. This could be the beginning of a new career for Mimi & Betty.

17.01.2022 Mimi and Betty have been clearing weeds in difficult places. I sat on the grass writing while they grazed, the hairy ladies doing all the hard work for me. I caught this angle of Mimi - which clearly revealed the extent of her fat belly. How much is too much!?

17.01.2022 Chooks and their chicks.

17.01.2022 Come and stay here on the farm! The Solar Loft House sleeps up to 6 people for as little as $149 a night. School holidays are booking fast! https://abnb.me/EVmg/7mzkDqqunK

15.01.2022 Brok Brok (aka mother of them all) went into Super-Moult! She lost almost half her feathers this moulting season. All my chooks and ducks are in feather production mode as they prepare for winter. That means no eggs for me, but warm healthy re-feathered birds.

15.01.2022 This is Rocky. Hes a Dark-Barred Plymouth Rock cross. Hes hand raised, friendly and is going to be a real beauty when he grows up. Hes just a young fella looking for a flock of lovely ladies. Preferably large breed ladies with sturdy legs - because he is going to be a big guy. Free to friends with loving homes.

14.01.2022 Mimi is always a laugh. What a face!

14.01.2022 This is Percy. He and his brother Ron are indoor cats. This weeks project is to build them a cat cage so they can venture outdoors and not threaten the wildlife.

13.01.2022 One minute EVERYBODY lays eggs, nek minute.... everybody broody! #whydoihavechooks?

08.01.2022 Why ducks? Because this is what ducks do - all day! Catch insects, remove grubs and larvae, search for snails, eat flies etc. They are the best slug removing system ever!

06.01.2022 The Little House @ Flying Duck Farm is ready for guests!

05.01.2022 The goats ate blackberry until their eyes were rolling and their bellies were like barrels.

04.01.2022 Hybrid Vigour! The chooks I breed are cross breeds - I love a mongrel! have had many breeds over the last 40years of chook raising. I have settled on large dual purpose birds that are not too Broody and lay well - like Australorps, Plymouth Rock, Light Sussex and Rhode Island Reds. I also keep some Wellsummers, and Wyandottes for their beautiful colour and large brown eggs. The rooster I keep is a cross of four of these breeds. Can you guess which four!?

04.01.2022 The raspberries were looking great before the goats got out. And, well... they ate all the raspberry canes! Thats why they got out - to eat all the raspberry canes! Thats what goats do.

04.01.2022 A nice day for chewing the cud. Betty relaxes after a big eat on the roadside. Pasture is thin, so the long paddock (roadside) is our best option for grazing.

03.01.2022 Its a bit cold, windy and wet here this week. Chooks are protesting on the porch of the Little House. Its WARM in here, thanks to super insulation and double glazing - sorry chookies!

03.01.2022 Betty was curious about the new chicks at Flying Duck Farm. So she poked her head in to check them out.

03.01.2022 A sunny still day on the teeny tiny farm.

02.01.2022 Kombi and horses! Dreamy

02.01.2022 The ducks have been spending their days in my neighbours yard. We need a lolly-pop man, or a duck-crossing sign!

01.01.2022 So many Duck Eggs! All ducks are laying, and the Pekin Duck lays double-yokers every day. I weighed one and it was 100g! Bless their downy bottoms, and their excellent work ethic.
