25.01.2022 We're heading offshore today for a 24hr passage and 'man overboard' training at night. Hope it's not me!

24.01.2022 Dark watch: Midnight 5 nautical miles of the coast of Narabeen. We've just picked up our man over board. Out of the inky black under the milky way. It's a beautiful night with light winds under a star lit sky.

23.01.2022 Watch the 1 minute leading up to the start from our yacht-cam.

21.01.2022 Skipper John's pep talk to the team just prior to the start.

19.01.2022 We're back! ... We've been so far off shore that we lost our radio link for a few days (Haven't seen land for 3 days - just endless stunning ocean). All well on board and looking forward to a finish in the next 24 hours - subject as always to the wind. We're in the doldrums right now so pray for a nice North Easterly for us.

19.01.2022 The sunrise this morning... (Phil on the helm)

18.01.2022 We're heading for the Derwent running under spinnaker at a good 9 knots. Skipper has had 'Under Pressure' by Queen pumping on the stereo. Any other suggestions for good tunes to finish with?

18.01.2022 John Naylor, Skipper talking us through the race plan.

17.01.2022 If you'd like to support us please read about Natalie's huge battle for life and give generously...

17.01.2022 Our first pre-training dinner

16.01.2022 Tacking up the Derwent in these winds involves man handling our huge No.1 sail and posting it between the two forestays. A bit like trying to push a big parcel through a very small letter box.

16.01.2022 We can see the finish line - just made our final tack...

15.01.2022 Ok - 1Nm left to go, and we're moving at 2.8knots so we should finish within 30 minutes if the wind stays.

15.01.2022 Heading down the Derwent to the finish line at dusk. We can see Hobart bridge.

14.01.2022 Read about Tim Hillier's role in the race...

14.01.2022 Intensive team training starts full time on Monday 19th December (we get Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off)

13.01.2022 Crew just before leaving MHYC for the start line. (thanks KH)

10.01.2022 Current standings with PHS handicap corrected times... We're sitting in fourth place. If we trim 15minutes off then we could make 3rd place; if we trim 35 minutes off then we could make second place. With 10 hours of the race still to go, Skipper's doing the pep talk as we speak. Very achievable.

06.01.2022 Just had the final team briefing with tactics after the overnight training passage. Everyone is full of adrenaline for the start line on Boxing Day.

05.01.2022 Dark watch (Stormy watch are asleep)

04.01.2022 And we've crossed the finish line of the 2011 Sydney Hobart yacht race. There may not be any updates for a while now ;)

04.01.2022 Listen to our interview (Live Now!) on Melbourne Talk Radio (MTR1377) - between 4 and 6pm today.

03.01.2022 The southerly hit us 8pm last night. As we sailed under the foreboding front we only just managed to drop the spinnaker in time and reef the main. Big wind swell regularly floods the deck. All well onboard apart from dinner paying a second visit.

02.01.2022 Oh no! Apparently Constitution Dock marina, in Hobart have kicked out all our waiting friends and family because it's dark now. All this way and our loved ones aren't allowed to greet us.

02.01.2022 We're off - after a scorching cross of the start line - we fell back in the fleet as Arctos doesn't point well on a close haul. However once we left the heads south we flew our largest spinnaker and started the overtaking!! We've already clawed back several places.

01.01.2022 The Rocky Road...

01.01.2022 Final results for performance handicap system of Sydney Hobart 2011. Flying Fish Arctos - 6th overall - 3th place honors in our division.
