24.01.2022 TEN ARROWS IN TEN SECONDS (10.98s)! (The Whirling Sword fast shooting technique update) Taking advantage of a warmer day in our place (just -3 degrees Celsius),... I made a test for checking the potential of my new archery form. It came out with a new personal fast shooting record, and hopes that our research is going on right way... THANKS GOD FOR EVERYTHING! (Ten arrows were shot in a rhythm of 1.22s/arrow to a 90cm circular target, situated at 28m distance. I used one 37#/28" Living Arrow asymmetrical bow made by Imre Tarcsi Veres, Sungur 400 carbon shafts from Alperen Alkan (Mamluke Archery), Koç nocks from Emrah Koç, and a Living Arrow flying quiver made by myself.)

22.01.2022 NEW POSTAL MATCHES Its time to announce the postal matches for March-April! For the walk/trot match we will have the Arena 30:... Please keep in mind that on the angled-target track (the last 3 runs) unlimited numbers of arrows may be shot, but only the best 2 hits on each target will score! https://www.horsebackarchery.info/gr-k4 For the canter postal we will have the Korean 123: Two runs with one side target, two runs with two targets (front-back) and two runs with three side targets: https://www.horsebackarchery.info/standard-korean For the try-out postal match we have adapted the Sling Shot 5 for the postals! This challenging track requires riders riders to first shoot with their non-dominant side, turn around at the end of the track, switch bowhand and then shoot with their dominant side! https://www.horsebackarchery.info/slingshot-5-postal Right now we are running the January-February postal but these postals will be on the website when the current one is over! EDIT: changed the graph of the SlingShot 5 to clarify the first side shot does not have to be shot at the same time as the front shot. (and the same for the last side shot and the back shot)

21.01.2022 Hi All, With all the restrictions with the Covid-19, all rallies and club gatherings are to cease until the rules/guidelines change. We hope members can continue to practice at home to keep their skills up, and we will be trying to hold a few fun challenges that can be done while we are all in isolation. So for now, happy shooting and stay safe!

21.01.2022 Update: we will reschedule to another date in 2021. Keep you all posted on what dates are decided. Unfortunately due to the temperature forecast for this weekend and the concerns over horse and human welfare staying out in the heat all day with limited shade, we have sadly had to cancel this weekend's horse archery clinic with John Downes. John has offered those interested if they would instead like to use their credit for private lessons at the venue throughout the day Satu...rday (rate of $100 per hour including venue hire) - this means getting John one-on-one without staying out all day in the heat. Equipment hire available $15pp Must be a financial member ($35 for juniors or $45 for seniors for 12 months) Ground match only $5 Walk/Trot/Canter $10 ... We are supportive and have fun. Spectators welcome (must sign waiver) Bookings essential please so we can plan the program :)

17.01.2022 Hello all of you awesome horse archers!!!! As some of you may be aware, the insurance environment has changed significantly with the merger of the two main equine insurers. This effectively reduced competition and drove the insurance prices up significantly. Here at The Flying Fletches Inc we have always set membership rates at the bare minimum so that insurance is covered and not much else. With this change in insurance costs, we have seen the policy fees increase to a ridi...culous $4100+ for the year. Obviously as a club, we cannot absorb this increase especially considering the former QLD committee still refuse to return the membership monies collected during the financial year. If this was returned, then it would have been likely that our membership fees would be only increased slightly. As a committee, we investigated a few options, one of which was each region setting themselves up as a separate club. Unfortunately, this isnt cost effective and would mean that insurance would be $8800 for the year!!!! So, we are asking you to support the club in this difficult time that sees all kinds of sporting clubs all over Australia closing. The committee has number crunched and come to the decision that membership for this financial year will be increased to $100 per person, with no junior rate. Even at that amount, all financial reserves that we have had will be depleted. We are investigating grants, fundraising opportunities etc. Here is the membership form. A risk waiver will be emailed to you separately. Thanks for supporting the club. Once we have managed to receive sufficient membership monies, we can pay for the insurance renewal. Today was just what the doctor ordered (except for the heat!) Great company, beautiful horses, and archery combined. Who would travel to Toowoomba for a club shoot day? Or who will host for us at their location elsewhere? ... Trying to set some dates over the next few days so let me know ASAP if you can provide a suitable venue (even just for one club shoot) Remember youll need to be a current financial member to attend shoots. What do you need to host a shoot? 1. A venue that can accommodate an archery run (min. 30m in length ideally - can just be a paddock) 2. Members able to use the toilet/water on your property 3. Ideally pigtail posts or bollards and tape or bunting to set up a run (or all members attending can pitch in and BYO so there is at least one run for the day 4. Targets or members attending can BYO to share on the day - unfortunately our club previously did have a number of targets that were donated by Outback Equines and also some bought with club money from previous events but some of the members of the outgoing committee took these for themselves along with membership monies so we are starting from scratch and need our members to now help out with providing their own at our rallies until we recoup some more funds and do some fundraising/get sponsorship. Sorry folks but to get us up and running again we are going to need YOUR support! 5. Ill put up some score sheets/rules etc soon but we are going to do a photo/video postal shoot challenge and you wont need anyone else to be with you to achieve it!
