23.01.2022 It’s Turtle Tuesday! Here’s a photo that captured the incredibly beautiful pattern of a green sea turtle shell. At the juvenile stage, this species displays th...e unique sunburst pattern on their carapace scutes. The coloration of this design varies from vibrant streaks of brown, olive, gold, black, and reddish brown. While their vibrancy fades towards the adult stage, their colors still vary between olive, brown, and black. Their sunburst pattern also changes as they grow older. Adult green sea turtles display a mottled design on their carapace scutes with splashes of yellow, olive, or gray. It is amazing how one species can change so much throughout its lifetime. Who else is in love with the magnificent design of the green sea turtle shell? #inwater #research #seaturtle #greenseaturtle #shellpatterns #sunburst #carapace #Floridaseaturtles #conservation #otreach #education #TurtleTuesday #coloration #vibrant
23.01.2022 Interestingly the New Daily expresses here my sentiments exactly. More People entering the ocean more interactions with sharks is inevitable.
21.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW that the shark nets along the KwaZulu-Natal coast do not prevent sharks from reaching the surf zone on swimming beaches? Luckily, it is highly unli...kely that you will ever be attacked by a shark. So unlikely, in fact, that the odds of dying from a shark attack in South Africa are one in 878 956. For decades, the human fear of sharks has transcended logic and statistics. You are more likely to have a coconut fall on your head than be attacked by a shark! Still not convinced? 05.01.2022 The best shot of this bumphead sunfish species I've ever seen. A bucket list must for me.
03.01.2022 Gotta dive there on the midden soon.
02.01.2022 We were diving with the most wonderful team last Saturday, shorediving off Barolin Rocks a renowned green zone. Was soooooo nice to see fearless Coral Trout and lovely health corals right off shore. Thank you Turtle Town Scuba.
01.01.2022 Today I think I've completed "Jelly Beans for Turtles" accomplished with a mixture of my hand made earth pigments Langridge mineral pigments, plus the last of Atelier acrylics in my studio. For me it is a thrill watching turtles grazing on their natural fodder, especially when it happens so close to home in the Noosa River. Ok yes it's been quite a while since that occurred but hawksbill turtles were quite common in this river and so too were the blue blubber jelly fish. Perhaps nowadays there is simply far too much boat traffic for the turtles to feel safe.....oh, wait, that's right turtles don't think, they run on instinct. In any case I hope you like this painting. Feel free to comment if you will.
