03.01.2022 Aaron Durogati - one of the most famous paragliding pilots in the world (and a Flymaster user) openly speak in his film about the lessons he learned during the... record-breaking season in Brasil. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiXOUh7V044 We offer you a summarised translation of his story which he tells in Italian of course :) The first new thing that he came across was tow launching, An X-Alps star who can launch from any impossible cliff, Aaron feels uncomfortable being towed like a glider. Record-breaking schedule is very tough - one has to take off at about 6 in the morning to achieve something. The retrieve shall always know the pilot's location and the car shall follow the pilot rather close, points out Aaron. The road back can take 5-10 hours so if you are not picked up quickly you have no chance to fly the next day. With the wind, you fly quick but it is also risky, continues Aaron. In the weak morning thermals you have to survive, on the contrary, the mid-day is characterised with very strong thermals so barely all day you fight your way and only in the afternoon can enjoy high cloudbase (up to 3500m) with long glides. Still, most part of the flight you need extreme concentration if you are not attentive... no chance.. you bomb out. He says he learned a lot in this trip and first of all that very concentration that is required for record-breaking flight. His best flight was 509 km. Take off at 6.20 in the morning, 11 hours of flight. The most difficult was 480 km when he almost landed but managed to find a small hill with the forest-fire, and lifted by smoke to 2000m, Aaron made his final glide. Another thing that impressed him greatly was the welcoming attitude of locals, many of which have never seen a paraglider before. Good luck Aaron with all your new achievements!
