24.01.2022 Congratulations to newly-elected TAS Sharpies President Maddy Salter who tonight became the first ever female President of any state in the rich 85-year history of the Sharpie class. Congratulations Maddy, we know you will do an incredible job and continue to drive the class forward in Tasmania! She is pictured with outgoing President Oli Burnell.
22.01.2022 Awesome stuff by the TAS Sharpies team playing their part in the National Kids in Sharpies Weekend!
21.01.2022 The deferral of the Canberra Nationals has pushed the home nationals for TAS Sharpies back a year as well... but it hasn't dampened their spirits! The growth of our class in Tasmania isn't dependent on hosting a nationals with so many of their sailors excited to get on the circuit beforehand and go to Canberra. 18.01.2022 The ACT Nationals 'test' Event appropriately named the Grinch Cup took place today on Lake Burley Griffin from the host club YMCA Sailing Club. An awesome day of racing with light-moderate easterly winds which provided a fantastic racing breeze on the lake. 12 Sharpies took to the race course, the event had around 18-20 boats lined up with competitors from NSW and VIC unfortuantely unable to compete at the last minute. So with an entire ACT fleet it was great to trial the ra...ce trakc for next years National Championships. 'Smoke' was the boat of the day, with Noah Taylor 'Bangin Sheets' and the wiley old fox Derek Milligan on 'The big bad wolf' taking a win in the final heat of the day. More racing to come tomorrow. 14.01.2022 A great day yesterday for the WA Division of the Australian Sharpie Sauling Association, at our annual presentation lunch. Trevor Date made a Life Member for 47... years’ wonderful service to the class...and he’s still a force to be reckoned with on the water. Well done, Datie! Congratulations to all the trophy winners and thank you to everyone who attended, including our veterans. Great to see former ace Jimmy O’Grady present the State Championship Alan O’Grady Perpetual to the guys from The Purple Circle. Alan O’Grady was of course the winner of the first Heavyweight series in Australia at Largs Bay Sailing Club in 1936, sailing Comet. Thanks to East Fremantle Yacht Club for another superbly-run event. Great to see the Geographe Bay Yacht Club sharpie skippers make the trip up. Thanks Pete Cuthbert Laurie Francis and Moz. More pictures to come. Australian Sharpie Nationals #flysharpie See more

10.01.2022 Tonight we honoured Robin ‘Macca’ Haselgrove (pictured right) as the 28th Life Member of the Australian Sharpie Sailing Association. Macca has been the most prolific boat builder in the history of the class and over the years has built more than 180 Sharpies, many of which are still sailing today. He was also a passionate Sharpie sailor for his entire on-water career and competed in many national championships over the years. ... Nowadays, Macca spends a lot of his time at his home club, the Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club, watching Sharpie sailing and offering his advice and guidance to current sailors in the boat park. The family tradition has also continued strongly, with Macca’s son Tim continuing the family business and regularly building Sharpies for today’s sailors. Macca is pictured with fellow Life Member, good mate and Sharpie legend Rod Townsend, who presented Macca with his badge at the SA Sharpies Presentation Evening tonight at the Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club. Congratulations Macca! #flysharpie

08.01.2022 "Deferring the carnival in Canberra by 12 months has been done because we can’t see it running at the potential we aspire to, which the hard-working team in Canberra fully deserve to be able to do." We've made an official statement regarding the scheduled 2020/21 Nationals in Canberra that will see the event deferred for 12 months, however there's still a lot of positive stuff happening in the world of Sharpies. READ ALL ABOUT IT
08.01.2022 While this year's nationals have been deferred a year, there are still so many positives to take away from it as a class. Our Sharpie family, its culture, and the excitement of the impending nationals in Canberra will hold us in good stead. Read the full statement at sharpies.com.au/news... #flysharpie

01.01.2022 First pumping southerly of the season saw some entertaining spills and thrills. Highlights of the evening were the Geeveston Fanny boys taking their first win i...n the sharpie class and seeing how pumped everyone was when we got in. Great day to fly a sharpie! Thanks Dan Townsend of the shots - if you need a photographer for any events this summer, hit dan up! Unfortunately we could only get him on the start boat as the ribs were about wet! Dan Townsend
