24.01.2022 The NRL has just released the complete 2021 Season Draw which includes a Premiership Match at the Coffs International Stadium in Round 12. The CRONULLA SHARKS will have a Home Game against the GOLD COAST TITANS on Sunday afternoon MAY 30 with a 2PM Kick-Off. The venue has hosted a number of pre-season trial matches over the years involving the Rabbitohs playing the Titans, Knights, Panthers and Warriors, City v Country in 2007 and 2013 and even a couple of International Fixtures featuring emerging Rugby League Nations but this will be the first time Competition Points will be played for.

22.01.2022 BIG NEWS for the NORTH COAST! This 34-kilometre section of the new motorway between Woodburn and Pimlico will open to traffic tonight. Three interchanges at Woodburn, Broadwater and Coolgardie will allow motorists to access and exit the motorway. Close to 90% of the 155-kilometre Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade is complete. There have been 3000 workers on the project. 21.01.2022 TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL IS LIKELY TO BE CANCELLED. Tamworth Regional Council will recommend the cancellation of the 2021 Tamworth Country Music Festival at a council meeting next Tuesday (Sept 8). The festivals 49th annual event is currently scheduled to take place from January 14-21, 2021. Due to the current law that determines "festivals" and large gatherings to be illegal activities, Tamworth Regional Council cannot, in good conscience, continue with the event in ...its traditional sense. The health and safety of the community, the artists, and any visitors have been the main priority of Festival organisers throughout the scenario planning. The suspension of the Festival has not been considered lightly. Months of in-depth consultations have taken place with NSW Police, Hunter New England Health Festival sponsors and stakeholders to reach this point. The annual presentation of the Country Music Awards of Australia, the Golden Guitars, could be the only Festival activity that continues, and it would do so via an online stream on the night. This has yet to be confirmed.

03.01.2022 20 Years Ago Today the Sydney 2000 Olympics began. It United a Nation as the rest of the World watched on (Sept 15-Oct 1). Our National Team contained a record 630 athletes and we won a total of 58 Medals. 16 of them Gold. At the Closing Ceremony the IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch declared these were the best Olympic Games ever. Like many Australians Radio 531s Nik James was involved in the Ticket Lottery for seats to various events and was lucky enough to attend an ...evening at the Athletics. Niko was the Breakfast Announcer at 2LT Lithgow at the time and was invited to MC a pre-Olympics Event honouring the legendary Marjorie Jackson, otherwise known as the Lithgow Flash, who won 2 Gold Medals at the 1952 Games in Helsinki (100 and 200m Events). Marjorie was born in Coffs Harbour, grew up in Lithgow and went on to become the Governor of South Australia. *(Niko still cant believe how much hair he once had!).
