25.01.2022 If you look closely you can see that the butterfly has been bitten by a white crab spider. I was lucky to catch the moment, as sad as it was to see the butterfly die.

24.01.2022 Now we can all travel a bit further, come and stay in our charming B and B Lodge. Explore our Tropical Flower Farm and stay in your own beautiful space. Wander through acres of flowers, explore our numerous swimming holes and much more. Click on our link and take a look. https://abnb.me/W251THkmD2

24.01.2022 Just one of the most amazing trees on the property. Birds nest plants grow wild in its canopy.

23.01.2022 Hello and Welcome to FNQ Blooms Tropical Flower Farm Lodge. The lodge opened at the end of 2019 after a year of renovations to the interior and exterior of the building. It was formally a school house from the Atherton Tablelands which was re-located to the farm. FNQ Blooms is a Commercial Tropical Flower Farm growing flowers for the Australian cut flower market. During your stay at the lodge you can tour the property with me and learn about the operation of the farm. You may also visit any number of swimming holes and waterfall on the property and in the area. If you would like more information on the Farm and Lodge please click on the link. https://abnb.me/W251THkmD2 Thank you and kind regards Jodie Sefton (owner of FNQ Blooms)

20.01.2022 Common name: white-lipped treefrog Species name: Litoria infrafrenata Family name: Hylidae Description The white-lipped treefrog is Australia's largest native frog growing up to 14 cm. Ranging in colour from pure green to greenish-brown or pale brown, it has a brilliant white stripe that runs along its lower jaw and the side of its head. During the breeding season some have a salmon-pink coloration on their arms and legs. The tadpoles are dark brown with a single cream stripe... on each side of the head, body and tail. Habitat and distribution The white-lipped treefrog is found in north-east Queensland and Papua New Guinea. Generally found in low-lying coastal areas, it also lives in closed forests, heathland swamps, dry sclerophyll forests, teatree swamps, mangroves and in urban gardens and parks. Life history and behaviour The white-lipped treefrog’s diet is mainly insects and arthropods(external link). Males call during spring and summer after rain from vegetation around the breeding site. Up to a 100 brown eggs are laid in clear jelly clumps on the water surface in permanent and temporary pools. The whole process of development from egg to frog takes around eight weeks. The mating call of the white-lipped treefrog resembles the barking of a large dog. See more

08.01.2022 What animals might you see when you visit our Farm? During the day you will see hundreds of different birds, native turkey’s and hens. We have a large variety of butterflies including the Ulysses and Cairns birdwing butterfly, and lots of dragonflies down by the creeks. In the water we have dozens of different fish and frogs, and maybe a platypus if you are up early enough. You may see a giant water python or a little green tree snake. ... In the evening the echidna, bandicoot and wallaby may be out and about as well as the bats. What can you do while you are at our farm? Swim in our many creeks and waterfalls. Take a picnic down to the creek and lay under the trees and sleep. We will take you on a guided tour around the property and the tropical flower farm. Pop down and say hi to our two horses. At the lodge you can relax on the deck with a glass of wine while you wait for the BBQ to cook. We have games for the kids to play and lots of room for them to have fun. What’s in the area? Spectacular Josephine Falls is one of the Top Tourist spots to visit in North Queensland. It is just 5 minutes away from our farm. There is also a walking track to the top of the mountain. This track is 25kms long and more suited to the avid adventurer, or a 10min walk to arguably the best rock side and swimming hole in North Queensland. Just 20min up the road is the town of Babinda, home to the Babinda Boulders and other gouges and swimming holes. Babinda is a small, quaint sugar processing town with all the shops you need to stock up for your stay. Eubenanqee Swamp Wetland Walk is 15 minutes away. This wetland is one of your hosts favourite spots to sight crocodiles in the wild and a Very ‘important’ bird watching area. The 1.5 kl walk comprises of lovely lagoons and swamps. Bring your binoculars as the view from the top of the hill looking back over the swamp and mountains is breathtaking on a clear sunny day. These are just a few things to do in the area. There is so much more to explore in the region. Does this sound like you then click on the link and book https://abnb.me/W251THkmD2

01.01.2022 Some of the many stick insects, leaf mantas and pray mantes you may see when you visit our farm. The female and male Tessulata Stick Insects look a bit different. The females are larger in size and grow to around 130mm compared to the 80mm male of the species.
