24.01.2022 Students’ basic needs have to be met before they begin to take risks and learn. While Maslow and Bloom’s theories are widely debated and controversial, they are included here for those that may not understand the references.

18.01.2022 Sharing your NDIS funding amounts with providers *sigh* I get really sick of providers who think it's their God given right to see your plan and all your budget...s. NO NO NO NO NO You are welcome to share that information *if you want*, but there is NO *need* for this - except for your plan manager, and your support coordinator. That's it. No one else needs to see your funding levels. Share your goals with providers, and if you're Agency Managed, providers need to know your NDIS number and birthdate, but THAT's IT. *You* negotiate with your providers how much you want to spend with them. If you're Agency Managed, you'll need to tell them the Support Category and amount to use for their Service Booking (which is like a credit card "hold" on the agreed amount in your plan). No more, no less. When the plumber comes to fix your toilet, do you show them your bank balance? When your gardener comes over to mow the lawns, do you open your wallet and show them what you have to pay? NO NO NO NO NO pic desc: a brown wallet with a wad of fifty dollar bills poking out This post if copyright of The Growing Space 2019, and you're encouraged to share it here on Facebook, with credit and no edits. If you want to share it elsewhere, please ask us first. Thanks! We're not lawyers, this is not legal advice, but it is common sense. We stand by that.

17.01.2022 GSL was proud to announce three new programs at the Cairns Disability Network Expo at Gazalys last week. The READY program provides learning and life skills to... the deaf youth in a group setting to assist participants to gain independence in the community. Our BASE program is for school leavers aged between 16 to 20 years and teaches them core numeracy and literature as well as increase their independence. LEAP program takes over from BASE and caters for the age group 21 to 24. Like the BASE program, LEAP focusses on teaching all the skills to live your BEST life. Want to know more? We invite you to our VIP open night on Tuesday the 6th of August 2019 at 5:30pm. Come and see our facilities and chat with our team. We will also have our NDIS guru on-site to answer all your questions as to where these programs might fit into your plan. To attend or for more please contact Trudy by Monday 29 July 2019 by emailing [email protected]. We hope to see you there!
