24.01.2022 Last night was another end of a era for an academy member. Ryan McCormick has been with PGT since the beginning of 2017 after attending our National Camp on the... Sunshine Coast. He has come along way with his development as a goalkeeper; however now he is focusing on his career development. Ryan only has 6 weeks to go before graduating from Saint Augustine’s College and he wants to focus on getting into a bachelor of engineering (specialisation naval architecture) at the Australian Martime College in Launceston which is part of University of Tasmania. I know he has a passion for boats and fishing, so I am certain he will excel in passing and make it a career in what he has a passionate for. Wishing you all the best mate and thank you for being part of the PGT family, especially here in Cairns. The academy will not be the same. Coach

14.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT - PGT would like to welcome Billy Holiday to the coaching staff for 2021. Billy will be assisting and mentoring in the development of the junior ...goalkeepers within the academy. He brings a great understanding and knowledge of what is required to play at a higher level, as he has been part of the PGT Cairns academy for the past 8 years and understands the mythology’s/ trends we educate. Also the benefit of having a number of years of experience as a representative player, at both school and regional level, and lastly as a Senior Premier Men’s goalkeeper (Southside Comets) for the past couple of years. Looking forward in seeing the progression of all members under Billy’s guidance throughout 2021.

09.01.2022 Great weekend away mentoring academy member Elina Lawesson at U11/12 State Championships in Brisbane, as the SAP GK coach. Elina played good over all 6 games, w...orking on key skill sets to take and progress her game to the next level. Awesome effort by her in an environment that she was not use to. Her team played 6 games over the 2 days and came away with 5 wins and 1 draw - beating 2 NPL clubs (Gold Coast and Peninsula Power) and drawing with a strong Sunshine Coast team on the last day. 07.01.2022 It was a busy couple of weeks during the school holidays for some of the academy members that were representing their region at the different carnivals. You di...d yourself and region proud. Nicholas Brett - U12 FNQ REP TEAM - Fillipo Mele in Townsville. Heard he played awesome all week and kept his team in the game on a number of occasions. Megan Stokes - got the call up to play for the U13/14 TSP TEAM at the FQ Community Cup in Cairns - came away winners on penalty shoot out. Not bad for a last minute call up. Archie Rudolphy - Refereed all week at the FQ Community Cup in Cairns. Missed out of doing a game on the last day due to a injury (yes referees do somehow get injuries). Awesome work mate for giving back to a game you love. Bradley Bracewell - U10 JOHNSTONE RIVER REP TEAM that played at the Fillipo Mele Carnival in Townsville. Heard he played awesome all carnival and for his effort won the U10 GK of the Carnival. Phoenix DiCarlo - U10 SAP TEAM at the Fillipo Mele Carnival in Townsville. Pulled off some cracker saves and as per normal put everything in. Myles Howard - U13 TSP REP TEAM at the FQ Community Cup in Cairns. Ended up coming 2nd place after a great final with NQ, who only scored the winner in the last 5 mins to take the win. Kahn Rebic - U15/16 TSP REP TEAM at the FQ Community Cup in Cairns.His team lost at the semi-final stage of the tournament. First year representing his region, so great experience. Felix Schneck - U11 SAP REP TEAM at the Fillipo Mele carnival in Townsville. He played awesome all week and heard he kept his team in the game most of the time with awesome saves.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to academy member Megan Stokes for being part of the Cairns High team that were crowned QLD Bill Turner Cup Champions today. No 1 in the state ...with a 2-1 win over Kelvin Grove School. Now off to the National Championships in the coming weeks. Awesome achievement.
