25.01.2022 Amended draw for the HMB JUNIOR OPEN. Good luck to everyone, play well..
25.01.2022 Hello all, As many of you would have heard by now, the National Cabinet and the PM have today eased restrictions to allow gatherings of up to 10 people in public. This will allow all FNQ clubs to return to groups of 4 on the tee for competition and social golf.... VERY IMPORTANT to note. The timing of this will depend on the advice from the QUEENSLAND Chief Health Officer and I urge clubs to exercise restraint until that happens. I would expect this to take a couple of days, so we are probably looking at Mon/Tues for it to take effect in Queensland. All FNQ clubs have been magnificent in the restraint shown during the past few weeks and I congratulate you all. Please follow all directives from the QLD government as we return gradually to normality.. Regards Stewy Worth President FNQGA UPDATE JUST ANNOUNCED Groups of up to 10 from next Saturday in QLD Travel increased to 150 klm

19.01.2022 Following the governments decision today to restrict outside gatherings to just 2 people, it would be prudent for all clubs still operating to follow that advice and reduce the group size, for both social and competition golf, to the declared level of "no more than 2". Please continue to comply with the restrictions and we may continue to play.. Stewy Worth ... President FNQGA https://mobile.abc.net.au//public-gatherings-lim/12101162

19.01.2022 Best of luck to all the Juniors competing in the Atherton Curlews Junior Open next weekend You can download the Nomination forms on the FNQ website: https://www.fnqgolf.com.au//atherton-curlew-junior-open-1/
18.01.2022 I dont think we are far off getting some more golfing restrictions lifted and thought I would take this opportunity to just simply thank and congratulate every golf club member, worker, helper or visitor that have conformed with the COVID recommendations since they were introduced to allow thousands of games to be played all over the FNQ district without any reported incidents or problems. There have been many reports of police and liqour licencing visits to nearly all clubs... for checks and all returned with good reports. Lets just stay on track until the restrictions are lifted gradually, and we can hopefully get into our 2020 championship rounds and Opens as smoothly and normally as possible. There may be some scope to lift restrictions in rural and regional areas before the metro areas, so we must continue to comply and encourage if that happens. Another pleasing report is that some clubs are actually increasing membership as social golfers get the bug during this time.. Get out there and support your club in any way you can, its there for you and your kids future use.. Echoing the prophetic words of John F Kennedy, "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest form of appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." - John F. Kennedy Regards and good golfing.. Stewy Worth President FNQGA

15.01.2022 The on/off saga continues. All clubs have just been advised that it is currently legal to play golf in QLD with the now well known social distancing and hygiene controls in place. (Eg.. Only 2 people, 1.5 metres, no touching, etc..) The Queensland Chief Medical Officer has granted an exemption to the closures for golf courses in order # 3.... This is LAW and is current in QLD. Golf Australia has issued advice regarding course closures. This is ADVICE, not law. Every club will make their individual decision and the FNQGA will support that decision. Please check with your club to get the current status of your club.. Stewy Worth President FNQGA

11.01.2022 Golf Australia has issued advice today 25/3/2020 regarding continuation of golf activities in Queensland. I have attached this advice. There is also a link to see the advice from all states. ... QLD is now aligned with the other states. Golf will continue with the well published Covid restricted practices in place. This is great news as clubs can continue to operate and generate some income. All clubs are advised to read the government and GA advice and discuss their actions in committee before proceeding with operating decisions. Some clubs will have variable concerns for their members and visitors safety after considering such things as Course locationMembership demographics ResourcesCourse layout and facilities All this should be considered at club level before making a decision to continue. More detailed information will be emailed from GAQ to every club tomorrow for consideration. Good luck and good golfing.. Stewy Worth President FNQGA Announcement from GA 25th March 2020 25/3: Golf Australia has tonight received verbal confirmation from QLD Chief Health Officer Janette Young that she has approved that Queensland Golf Clubs can operate on their Golf Courses from tomorrow in accordance with National Cabinets approved measures relating to outdoor gatherings which includes but is not limited to having groups less than 10 people and maintaining a 1.5m spacing. The sale of alcohol is not allowed but the sale of take away food is allowed as long as people do not congregate around these areas and as a result of the food being sold. Pro shops can be used but people must not congregate in this area. Formal advice with specifications will be provided to all QLD Golf Clubs and facilities tomorrow via email and via the Golf Australia website: https://www.golf.org.au/covid-19 https://www.golf.org.au/covid-19/
10.01.2022 24th March 2020 update This advice will have an effect on most clubs in the FNQ district, especially those that have a liquor licence that extends to the entire course. Most other states are advocating and encouraging closing the bar areas but continued use of the playing area.... More updates when they become available. I would urge all clubs to monitor the advice from Golf Australia and make their decisions accordingly Stewy Worth President FNQGA Further update from Golf Australia. Queensland 24/3/2020 At this point, the advice received from the Queensland government is as follows; If a course or facility is licensed, it must completely close immediately. Golf Australia is currently working hard to advocate for the sport to continue to be played during this crisis. https://www.golf.org.au/covid-19
