19.01.2022 We just can't get enough of these Rose-crowned Fruit-Doves feeding and nesting on the #cairnsesplanade Rose-crowned Fruit-Doves feed in the upper canopy of rainforest, usually in the morning or afternoon. They swallow fruit whole and particularly like figs rainforest fruit trees such as palms and vines. Despite their bright and colourful plumage, when foraging they remain difficult to spot among the foliage!

15.01.2022 One for the bird lovers This is an immature male Victoria's Riflebird practising his courtship display. No female was present during the show but I loved it! By September there should be some great opportunities to witness this behavior throughout the Wet Tropics

14.01.2022 Haven't been down to see these guys in a while, really nice lighting yesterday. This male Rufous Owl was quite accommodating and in return of his generous hospitality, I was quick to get my shot and kept my distance. Love the result, cheers MATE! Rufous owls are found across the East Coast tropical Australia, the Top End and New Guinea.

11.01.2022 The most outstanding architect in the Wet Tropics, the Golden Bowerbird. Considered by many enthusiasts to be the Crème de la crème of birdlife in North Queensland. The Golden Bowerbird is endemic to the World Heritage Area and only found in high altitude rainforest above 900m. ... It was truly a delight watching this male undertake his housekeeping duties, restabilising the lichen moss that had fallen to the rainforest floor. Persistence pays of when such upkeep could lead to courting opportunities! Good luck little fella Great afternoon with Kelvin Marshall

11.01.2022 Eastern Yellow Robin They are seldom noisy, but their penetrating piping call is one of the first of the morning chorus, often well before dawn. 10.01.2022 Another gem from #capeyork, a dark morph #brownfalcon These raptors can be found almost everywhere in Australia however, this is my favourite encounter so far. As a photography enthusiast we love it when subjects pose so willingly like this.. just beautiful. When we spot Falcons on tour they are usually perched on an exposed branch or pole for example, hunting for small mammals, insects, reptiles and sometimes small birds like finches! ... . . . . . . . #NatureTTL #ABCmyphoto #birdlifeoz #birdsofaustralia #birds_ #AnimalElite #earthcapture #naturegrampixels #naturelover_gr #discoverwildlife #wildlifeonearth #wildlifeplanet #thebirdingsquad #birds #birdsofinstagram #wildlifephotography #wildlife #nikonphotography #nikon_photography_ #birdphotography #bird_perfection #birder #birdlife #australia #nature_shooters #animalphotography

10.01.2022 Primarily we were looking for some Double-eyed Fig-Parrots, however this little shot of a Beach Stone-Curlew took the prize as my favourite bit of footage this afternoon! They are shy birds, but in remote areas they can be more confiding. The Beach Stone-Curlew forages throughout intertidal mudflats, sandflats, sandbanks and sandpits exposed by low tide for crabs and other marine invertebrates. The Cairns Esplanade is a lovely spot to see them but it can be hit and miss!

10.01.2022 Last weekend we took our hiking boots off and put our water shoes on! Back Country Bliss Adventures took our family out to join their River Drift Snorkelling tour and we had a blast, kids too! ... Big shout out to Jason, he was our amazing guide, he took great care of us and made sure we had a safe, fun adventure in nature. 09.01.2022 Road Warrior! An absolutely stunning and exciting reason to always be aware of what's happening on the road your driving, especially in areas with abundant wildlife. This Frill-necked Lizard was right beside a mate and both on the road soaking up the warmth from the bitumen. We easily avoided them both as we were travelling slowly but still went back to remove them and take them off the road. ... When a Frilly is frightened, it produces a unique display, it gapes its mouth, exposing a bright pink or yellow lining or 'frill' This reaction is used for territorial displays, to discourage predators, and during courtship. I was obviously seen as a threat but that's perfectly okay and I took some sneaky shots afterwards . . . . . . . . . . . . . #reptile #dragon #frillednecklizard #wildlifeplanet #wildlife_perfection #animal_sultans #ausgeomyshot #mynikonlife #teamnikon #nikonaustralia #capeyork #queensland #fnqnature #wildlifeplanet #ausgeo #wildlifephotography

08.01.2022 At 1000m above sea level, this #boydsforestdragon was a huge surprise Throwback to a nightwalk with @justin_dayz and @wildmanadventures at Mt. 03.01.2022 In Australian Aboriginal dreaming stories, the Red-tailed black-cockatoo is said to represent spirit strengthening, change and herald the coming of rain. 01.01.2022 A nice find on the Atherton Tablelands yesterday, the reclusive and unambiguous, Yellow-breasted Boatbill. Its bill is large, wide, long, and flat resembling the shape of a boat, hence the name! This individual male was surprisingly nonchalant about our presence, great sighting!
