20.01.2022 With the hospitality teetering on the brink catastrophe and an unknown future, would this proposal help bring in some dollars or just be a final nail in the local coffin? Whatever you think, this would be a good time to let your local minister know your opinion!

19.01.2022 ***CORONAVIRUS STAGE 1 RESTRICTIONS ANNOUNCED*** Tonight, in response to the increasing threat from Covid-19 the Australian National Cabinet agreed to move to more widespread restrictions on social gatherings in an effort to flatten the curve. Premiers and Chief Ministers agreed to implement, through state and territory laws, new Stage 1 restrictions on social gatherings, to be reviewed on a monthly basis.... The following facilities will be restricted from opening from midday local time 23 March 2020: ~ Restaurants and cafes will be restricted to takeaway and/or home delivery ~ Pubs, registered and licenced clubs (excluding bottle shops attached to these venues), hotels (excluding accommodation) ~ Cinemas, entertainment venues, casinos, and night clubs ~ Gyms and indoor sporting venues ~ Religious gatherings, places of worship or funerals (in enclosed spaces and other than very small groups and where the 1 person per 4 square metre rule applies). *Isolated remote community hubs are not included in these restrictions.

18.01.2022 Important information for licensed premises who are looking to offer alcohol to take away or deliver with food. Remember the usual alcohol and licensing regulations still apply with reference to marketing, promotions and responsible service. UPDATE: Licensed restaurants and cafes holding a current liquor licence that will supply takeaway food, can supply takeaway alcohol or delivery, subject to the following conditions: The takeaway alcohol can only be supplied in conjuncti...on with a take away food order The takeaway alcohol can only consist of bottled or canned beer, wine, cider and ready to drink beverages, such as premixed spirits A maximum limit of 2.25 litres of alcohol applies and can only be sold in conjunction with a takeaway food order (that is up to 2.25 litres per food order). 18.01.2022 It’s time to dine! Stage 1 of relaxations commence at midnight, 15 May and are set to last for 4 weeks. Venues - cafes & restaurants (not bars and clubs) can start providing dine in service for up to 10 patrons. The number of 10 people does not include staff but does include any patrons waiting for takeaway and therefore to remain compliant with the conditions of this policy it is a good suggestion to separate any queue of people waiting for takeaway orders where possible o...ff premise or at a service window away from the dining area. Social distancing also needs to be observed in any queue. Remember, the total number on premise = 10. It does look like there will be the requirement of a contact register meaning than any patrons dining in will need to provide their name, address and contact details (at least one person per table) and this information is to be held by the venue for a period of 28 days for the purposes of tracing should there be any need. A number of other procedural and functional aspects to reinforce standards of hygiene and wellbeing for both patrons and workers are still being finalised in the Covid Safe Checklist for Stage 1 to ensure all venues operate in line with best practice. We have spoken with a number of restaurant and cafe operators and know they would very much appreciate forward bookings to assist in smooth operation. We look forward to seeing you out there over the coming weeks enjoying the food and locations we love in FNQ. 07.01.2022 On Friday, we reach another F&B milestone in the current rollback of restrictions. Seeing, as it does, a change in the procedure for calculating the number of customers permitted to dine in. The Queensland Government have paved the way for smaller food businesses, with venues less than 200 square metres in area, to use a 2 metre rule (instead of the previous 4 metres) to calculate their maximum number of patrons on site. For example, an 80 square metre cafe, previously restr...icted to 20 guests can seat 40. The total number of guests for smaller outlets is now capped at 50. The requirement for 1.5 metres between tables still applies as does the 4 metre rule for larger venues. Social distancing remains in place, however is relaxed for those dining together. There is also a provision for night clubs, casinos and food courts to reopen as well. More info below and full details on https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au//roadmap-to-easing-queensla

03.01.2022 Some great news for all of us here in QLD!! As the overall situation improves, the State Government have brought forward the Phase 2 rollback of COVID-19 restrictions to noon on the 1st of June. Some of the key points as of noon tomorrow: Unlimited stays and travel within QLD (excluding bio-security areas)! All restaurants, cafes, pubs and RSLs etc. can have 20 patrons for seated food and drinks: still no standing bar service or gaming. The four square metre area rule still a...pplies as does the 1.5 metres between diners. A COVID Checklist is required. Additionally, venues with an approved COVID Safe Industry Plan can divide premises into areas (e.g. indoor/outdoor) and have a maximum of 20 patrons per designated area. Distancing and four square metre rules still apply but are taken from the designated area, not the overall venue. If you are patron, please remember to be patient, there's a lot for businesses to unpack and implement in a very short time. Everyone wants to get it right and be compliant as quickly as possible! If you are a business, remember there are still some COVID Safe hoops to jump through.
