24.01.2022 Attention all Barrel Racers. In preparation for our next Event, here are the barrel racing rules for your clarification. If you need further assistance, please speak to Joel Hilditch prior to the Event commencing. 1. Competitors may go either to the right or left barrel first, but must take one right and two left turns or one left and two right turns. 2. A contestant will be given a "no time" for knocking over a barrel. Touching a barrel, including to keep it from... falling, is permitted without penalty. 3. A "no time" will also be given if a barrel is knocked over. 4. A Contestant will be given a no time if the horse or rider falls during the run in such a manner as to break the pattern, or if the rider falls off the horse. 5. Hitting horse around head or excessive use of whip and/or over and under in barrel race competition will result in disqualification for the duration of the competition. There will be no refund of entry fees. 6. More than two whips between barrels and four whips coming home or more than two contacts between barrels and four contacts coming home with an over and under will result in disqualification. To be ruled by judge. Once entered the arena box, two whips or contacts with an under and over action are allowed going to the first drum. Exceeding this will result in disqualification. 7. One revolution, one roll back, tail turn is permitted to start a pattern. 8. Junior barrel racers are only permitted one run in their barrel race age group and points are not cumulative as a horse and rider combination 9. 13 & under 18 years (17 year old’s cannot turn 18 within the membership year ending 30/06/2021) All junior members (under the age of 18 years of age) that being the 7 and under, 8 and under 13 and 13 and under 18 age groups, must participate in the correct age groups (i.e. A junior competitor that pays membership in July and is 7 years of age, but is turning 8 within that membership year they must compete in the 8 and under 13 age group for that financial year). 10. A competitor must have total control of the horse when entering and leaving the arena. A rider must start and finish their run inside the arena. No running into the arena will be permitted. 11. If a competitor is having difficulty getting their horse to enter the arena, please discuss your need for assistance with Joel Hilditch or Lee Liaver prior to the Event commencing.

10.01.2022 ATTENTION Under the advice from our insurance provider, the ATRA Committee has passed a motion that everyone participating in an ATRA affiliated Clinic, Sch...ool, Development or Training Day must pay a membership fee, effective immediately. The Committee has created a new Clinic/School Membership and Development/Training Day Membership that can be found on page 10 of the ATRA Rulebook on the website. All participants at these events must be either a Full Member of the ATRA or pay the new membership fee which will give them Personal Accident Insurance for the duration of the event. See more
