25.01.2022 What a great use of police resources today in QLD :/ I am generally an avid supporter of our friends in blue, but this behaviour is appalling.. Over 150 officer...s blocked the road to a Gold Coast racetrack as a 'show of force' and defecting vehicles for anything and everything (just two examples of ridiculous defects - stock recaro race seats and claiming an alloy radiator needs to be 'emission tested'). Now this was done as a response to the 'modball rally'. We understand that on these events some people may get carried away, and by all means the police should keep tabs on any poor behaviour. BUT (and this is a VERY big 'but'); these folk were driving to a closed race track where drivers were being encouraged to test the limits of their car for the purpose of driver education on the track and the skid pan.... How many times have you heard police, politicians or supporters of driver safety say: 'if you want to go fast -take it off the street and go to a track!'?? To the QLD police task force behind this - "wtf were you thinking??" Cornering people on their way to the track to do EXACTLY what they tell us to do??? I'm sorry but this is one instance that they have zero support from us. Absolutely disgusting. Edit: this isn't even about defecting illegal cars, fair enough if people want to run the risk of doing things outside the law.. It isn't even just the fact it was outside a race track... But running an operation bigger than your average missing child man-hunt (80 odd police cars?).... That gives a very strong message about priorities. There were more police cars than entrants to the track! Absolutely zero need for more than a small group of officers if they absolutely insisted on the operation.
