24.01.2022 The great news from the Prime Minister and Queensland Government this afternoon means some of the COVID-19 restrictions are starting to be eased. I don't know about you but the restrictions, while being great for helping us as a community minimise its spread, have really made us here realise the things we take for granted, like a pub lunch, catching up with friends or heading to the beach!! We're kicking our plans into action around what our groups and activities to run over... the coming weeks and months and have created a survey with some ideas and are keen to know if you're interested in any of these. Also if there's something else you're thinking you'd like to do please include it! It might be a little while before we can do the things we've thought of, or what you suggest, but it's always good to have a plan! If you're not a client of ours already, feel free to complete the survey and leave your name and contact details at the bottom and we'll give you a call to talk about getting you involved with us!

You will be responsible for a wide range of duties including personal care, incident management, transport and community access. We are looking for experienced and passionate Disability Support Workers who want to make a difference and assist our clients to achieve their goals. This role will evolve and change as we bring on new clients and the needs of our clients change. About You You are experienced working with people with a disability and have a genuine desire to improve the quality of life of the clients you support by allowing them to have choice and control over their lives. You are passionate about caring for people with disabilities and you are a reliable and flexible worker. You are comfortable performing personal care tasks and working with clients with complex needs. You are dedicated to providing high quality care and are motivated to become a key member of an emerging player in a very important field. You embody our ethos of Dignity, Respect, Individualised, Visionary and Engaged. Required Skills: - Experience working with people with a disability - Passionate about providing person- centred and active support - Current first aid certificate (including CPR) - Blue Card & Yellow Card, or the ability to quickly attain them - Ability to work flexible hours - Access to a smart device - Authority to work in Australia Desirable Skills: - Previous experience in the delivery of personal care services - Previous experience working with clients that have a PBSP - Previous experience working with complex and challenging behaviours - Mental Health First Aid training - Certificate 3 or 4 in Individual Support, Youth Work, Welfare, Community Services, Mental Health or any other related courses or be working towards obtaining the qualification within 12 months of commencing in the role - Personal care, manual handling, medication management and infection control procedures knowledge and experience.

23.01.2022 It was a very exciting and busy afternoon last Saturday with a number of clients joining our first cooking class at Emerge Cafe. The class learnt to cook Smashed Pumpkin soup and over the next four weeks they'll learn how to cook three different mains and a dessert before they put their skills to the test with a cafe for family and friends. 18.01.2022 Yesterday was the perfect day for four of our clients to join more than 25,000 other competitors for the 2019 Bridge to Brisbane! After a well earned rest and lunch we went and explored the city on foot before enjoying a relaxing ride back to South Bank on the city ferry! 07.01.2022 Today is the second anniversary of Focused on Care opening! I am so proud of what the team has achieved in such a short time. When we began two short years ago we were servicing NDIS clients in Toowoomba and have now grown to supporting NDIS, NIISQ and CHSP clients from South Brisbane to Roma. We started this adventure with three desks in a co-working space to now having offices in Ipswich, Toowoomba and Roma. ... Thank you to the fantastic team and most of all our awesome clients. 07.01.2022 COVID-19 is impacting our community, and the world, so much at the moment and we want to let every know Focused on Care is still open and supporting our existing and new clients who need supports under the NDIS. 06.01.2022 As part of our commitment to assisting our SIL clients to grow their independence and be able to get out into the community as much as possible we took delivery of four new cars last week. These three are ready to roll out to our homes in Ipswich!! So proud of the team.
