20.01.2022 Feeling honoured that Focus on Family is shortlisted for this award. I’ve usually shied away from these sorts of things, but it’s important that women are recognised for the work they do, particularly in the legal field which has such deep patriarchal foundations. Congratulations to all the finalists and deep gratitude to all those practitioners (far more experienced than I) who so generously lend their guidance and support. #familylaw #womeninbusiness #womeninlaw

19.01.2022 Loved being part of the #womeninlaw awards. I didn’t win but doubt I could be happier being a finalist and having friends and family around to watch. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners and thank you to the people that support them.

15.01.2022 It’s rewarding to get positive reviews, particularly in complex matters. I’m grateful for clients who make the effort to leave a google review and for those that refer us to others, as we don’t have to pay for advertising. This further benefits our clients, as our fees can remain affordable.

10.01.2022 Simple feedback. This client already had a lawyer but sought a second opinion. I explained I thought their lawyer was representing them well, and it would be more cost effective to stay with them. I suggested some ways to get their lawyer more engaged. They said they preferred my communication style and made the switch. Following some ardgy bardgy (yes, that is a legal term) the matter was resolved by agreement. With all professional services, if you feel something is a bit off, it’s always worth the money to get a second opinion. #familylaw

10.01.2022 It’s just not going to happen, not this lockdown, not ever. Let’s be honest. We WILL be tightening up our processes for providing independent advice to loan guarantors however, so please enquire within if you or your guarantor needs this service.

09.01.2022 Keeping families out of the court system should be the objective but is not always possible. In those cases understanding each person has a different perspective and there is never a perfect solution to complex issues, helps immensely. #familylaw #melbournelawyer

07.01.2022 Gratitude is important but all feelings are valid. Some people who were considering separation think this is no longer an option, and feel stuck at home. Focus on Family have just resolved a collaborative law matter via zoom, whilst the parties were still living under the same roof, with their young child. Over a series of 3 legally represented meetings, the parties were able to negotiate and agree on a parenting plan and a property settlement, looking at each party’s budgets..., income and future needs. The entire process was charged on a fixed fee basis, including the preparation and lodging of court documents. Collaborative law is not for everyone, but for those who want to keep things civil, maintain a respectful co-parenting relationship, and retain control of their separation, it’s very effective. If you were planning to leave, why not use this time to work out a plan and sort out the legals, together. #collaborativelaw #familylaw See more

06.01.2022 Feeling very grateful to be able to continue to offer all family law services online. Emergency legislation has been passed allowing remote witnessing of most Family and Federal Circuit Court documents, and yesterday legislation was passed that allows the execution of wills and powers of attorneys to be done by video link. Here is some lovely feedback received recently from clients which makes the work so rewarding.

04.01.2022 Such a lovely gift Amazed by how talented and multi-skilled my friends are. I couldn’t even wait, the kids and I have already used the Peach and Prosecco bath bomb which smelled divine and was heaps of fun.
