22.01.2022 Is there such a thing as bad posture, and can we fix it? Posture is an interesting topic and I find majority of the time its your body trying to adapt the best position to allow you to function optimally. That means if you try pull your shoulders back you could be fighting your body for space and likely causing more issues. Sometimes it can be we are lazy and posture correction is needed; however there is often a restriction in your body that "bad posture" is trying to sort out. If it feels hard work to hold correct posture or causes more pain then likely there is an underlying reason. This could be from an old abdominal surgery (C Sections are particularly bad for this) or an old injury where your body has no choice but to slump or tension. Finding someone that assesses the whole is essential!

21.01.2022 Rehab considerations! A new study found that mini band placement around the feet generated the highest amount of gluteal activity without increasing TFL activ...ity when compared to band placement around the knees or ankles (Lewis et al, 2018) We reviewed this study in the February issue of our research reviews, and explained the clinical implications We know how hard it is to keep up to date with the latest research, so it’s our mission to make it easy for you Learn more about our monthly research review service here - https://physio-network.com/research-reviews/

17.01.2022 While out walking a few days ago i started chatting to a man walking the same path. He shared a that prior to retirement he trained athletes. In our conversation he asked me which muscle i thought was the best muscle in the body to train. I gave a quick thought and replied "the diaphragm is the most powerful and beneficial muscle to train". he smiled and agreed. Breathing has such a multi layered benefit. https://www.forbes.com//how-breathing-calms-your-brain-a/

09.01.2022 I have treated a number of clients from an ACL injury without surgery and had excellent results. Often finding an issue of alignment that puts the knee joint in tension and some of the ligaments on slack. Making an unhappy knee. Resolve the real issue and the knee is sometimes better than it had in a while. Its great they are finally looking at the effectiveness of ACL surgery that was assumed for so long to be better than no surgery. https://www.physio-network.com/acl-surgery-no-longer-kneed/
