25.01.2022 Ok, an update on trivia: We return to Mr Henderson at 7pm on Wednesday 8th July (note, this is not our usual first Wednesday of the month, just for this one. We will return to first Wednesday for August). There are limits on how many people are allowed at Mr H to comply with physical distancing so we have a few new rules: 1. Minimum team size of 3 people (prefer 4 if you can!), maximum of 6. Also there will be an upper limit on how many teams - probably 7 or 8 or 9, depend...ing on team size. 2. You will need to register your team beforehand. If you just turn up on the night without registering, you’ll only be allowed to play if there are still spaces available. Details of how to register your team coming soon. 3. To reduce transmission risks, we’ll be asking you to manage the physical distance within and between your teams appropriately. I’m not your dad and Darcy is not your mum. 4. I will also be slightly changing the way we run the night to minimise transmission risks. I’ll fill you in on the night. 5. Mr Henderson is now table service, so when you arrive, find your table and the bar staff will come and take your orders. Don’t forget to drink up (responsibly of course), because they have been missing your lovely dollars. See you on the 8th!!

20.01.2022 Ok Trivia Fans, it’s 10 days till we start up again at Mr Henderson (7pm on Wednesday 8th July). Because of physical distancing requirements we will have a limit of 40 players (20 inside and 20 outside), so we are requiring that you register your team, and we are limiting the size of teams: a minimum of 3 people and a maximum of 6 people per team. To register your team will be a two-step process: 1. When I post the clues post (which will be soon - maybe a day or two from now...!!) you need to comment with your team name AND how many players you will have (as always, you will get bonus points for doing this). 2. You need to send the same information by private Facebook message to Mr Henderson. You will need to do both steps - if you don’t, we can’t guarantee you a table on the night. And tables will be allocated in a first booked, first served basis. If you book and then find you can’t make it, or some of your team can’t make it, PLEASE let us know, so we can make those seats available to someone else. Remember there is a 50:50 chance you will have to play outside, and it’s July, so bring a jacket!!

20.01.2022 Clues, clues,clues! Trivia is back at Mr Henderson (at 7pm on Wednesday 8th July), and here’s your chance to register your team, win some bonus points and get clues. Because we have to limit the numbers, you MUST register. To register your team, you have to: 1. Comment here with your team name, and how many players in your team (NB minimum of 3, maximum of 6!) 2. Send a private Facebook message to Mr Henderson. You must do both or we can’t guarantee you a spot. ... Want bonus points? If you’ve registered, you’ve just earned yourself some! What about those clues? Here they are: Round 1 is general trivia. Your clues are we have questions about Neil and Tim (but not the Finns), and a question about Adam, but not Eve. Round 2 is pictures, and this month it’s themed Live Fast, Die Young - famous people who died young. Round 3 is music and this time it’s all about The King - songs by Elvis, cover versions of Elvis songs, and songs about Elvis. Round 4 is Winners Choice, so the winners of rounds 1-3 get to choose from Science & Nature, Board Games, Australian Rugby League, The Simpsons, Shakespeare, Local Area Trivia and a bonus music round - Songs about Planes. As always, there will be a puzzle, a listening question and a Who Am I for someone whose birthday it is. Plus someone will win a free drink in our Heads and Tails game. See you then!! See more

18.01.2022 Just one week and one hour till Trivia at Mr Henderson (7pm on Wednesday 5th August). I'm still finalising questions, so I don't have the clues ready yet, but will get them up soon, at which time you can also get yourself some bonus points. Probably in the next two days or so. In the meantime, get your team organised (minimum 3 people, maximum 6), and register with Mr H by sending them a Facebook message with your team name, and how many team members you have. There will be an upper limit on how many folks are allowed, due to physical distancing laws. Some of you might have to sit outside, so bring a parka!

18.01.2022 Less than 22 hours till Trivia reboots at Mr Henderson! 7pm Wednesday 8th July, but only if you’ve registered your team by sending a Facebook message to Mr Henderson. Let’s do another quick trivia challenge - don’t Google it, just use your memory. Name an Australian sportsperson, with first names starting with each letter of the alphabet, in order. They can be from any sport, but they must be Aussie (whether they grew here or flew here, I don’t care). No one is allowed to do two in a row. Let’s see if we can make it to Z before trivia kicks off at Mr H. I’ll start us off with an A. It’s gotta be Ash Barty, of course.

17.01.2022 Clues, clues, clues! Trivia is back on Wed 2 September at 7pm. Teams of 3-6, and you have to book, by sending a Facebook message to Mr Henderson with your team name and number of players. For bonus points, comment here with your team name. What about those clues? Here they are: Round 1 is 15 general questions, the answers start with the last 15 letters of the Alphabet. ... Round 2 is pictures, and this month it is movies, one each from the last 15 years. So movies released 2006 - 2020. Round 3 is music, and this time it’s musical theatre. I’ve got 5 movie musicals, 5 Broadway hit musicals and 5 recent stage musicals. As always, Round 4 is Winners Choice, so the winners of rounds 1-3 each get to choose a topic from the smorgasbord of options that includes a bonus music round (still more musical theatre!), board games, serial killers, local area (4017 postcode) trivia, COVID-19, and AFL/AFLW. As usual, there will be a fun puzzle, a who am I for someone whose birthday it is, a listening question and a couple of fun games for your chance to win a spot prize. 15.01.2022 New trivia challenge. Names of movies or TV shows with a number in the title, in strict numerical order. Don’t Google it, use your memory. Only other rule is you can’t name two in a row, gotta give someone else a go. Let’s start with 1 and see how many hours it takes us to get to 24. I’m betting it will be more than 24... Who wants to go first?

14.01.2022 Here’s something fun, that may or may not be related to the trivia questions for our return to Hendos on the 8th July. Let’s brainstorm a list of Australian bands, one starting with each letter of the alphabet. Put ‘em in the comments. Make sure you check what letter we are up to. Don’t Google it, see how far through the alphabet we can get (or how quickly we can get to Z) One more rule, nobody can answer two in a row - you have to wait for someone else to do the next letter. 12.01.2022 It's trivia time again, this Wednesday 7th October at Mr Henderson. The fun kicks off at 7pm, but as always, you need to register your team by sending a FB message to Mr Henderson, with your team name and the number in your team (minimum 3, maximum 6). Want bonus points? all you need to do is LIKE this post, COMMENT with your team name, and SHARE it on your own FB wall. Want clues? simply read on... Round 1 is general questions, but this month, your clue is that they all have... something to do with the date: 7 October 2020 (5 questions about 7, 5 about October and 5 about 2020). Round 2 is Pictures, and since the Queen's Birthday gave us a day off this week, it's only fitting that our picture round is Queens - real and fictional, people, places and things. Staying with the Queens Birthday theme, our music round in Round 3 features songs by the band Queen - some that are so recognisable you won't even need to hear a lyric, some that might be a tad more obscure. Round 4 as always is Winners' Choice, and our Rounds 1 to 3 winners get the choice of 8 topics this month - the British Royal Family, serial killers, the AFL/AFLW and local area trivia, plus not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 bonus music rounds - more Queen songs (but you have to say which member of the band wrote them), Songs with the word "Queen" in the title or the band name, songs with another royal title in the song title, or songs by performers with another royal title in their name. Your round 1 clue this time is that there are questions about Oscar winners, a well-known board game and local politics, among others. 10.01.2022 Oooops, it's been a busy month for some reason. I haven't managed to get around to posting the photo of our March winners at Mr Henderson Trivia. Here they are, The Sausage Fest. Unfortunately, thanks to COVID-19, Mr Henderson will be closed for the foreseeable future, so we won't have an April trivia night, and quite likely, won't have a May or June one either. Watch this space though, when I've recovered from the election, and finished my PhD thesis (due 20th April), I might come up with a way for us to play Hendos Trivia online. No promises, but I'll let you know.

07.01.2022 Trivia fans!! The coolest bar in Sandgate has reopened for business, and starting in July, trivia is coming back to Mr Henderson! Put Wednesday the 8th of July in your diary now! (Also 5th August) It’ll be a little different than before - physical distancing laws limit how many people can be in the bar (20 indoors and 20 outside), so we will need you to register your team beforehand (including how many people in your team). We might have to limit the size of teams too, I’ll ...let you know about that when we work out the details. I’ll post some clues and a chance for bonus points in a couple of weeks, as well as details for how you can register. Looking forward to seeing you all again!
