18.01.2022 On this day, 10 November (1905) sailor Jack Denham, 17, and six of his shipmates died when the 'La Bella' ran aground near the jetty at Warrnambool, Victoria. F...or hours in the freezing cold, residents watched from the shore, helpless. The local lifeboat crew did their best and a daring rescue effort was launched by local sailor, William Ferrier (pictured). Thanks to our readers we were able to give Jack a headstone after 115 years; he rests in Warrnambool Cemetery see the pics on our website, including meeting William’s grandsons. 16.01.2022 For information of members. Another link to Tom Pearce, has passed away. Our condolences to Bill Dormer and all of Pam's family. Information supplied by Ron and Carlyn Sproston. Bill's grandson Hugo visited Warrnambool and Flagstaff Hill after Ron and Carlyn met Pam and Bill Dormer in England at the refurbishment of Tom Pearce's grave. Sad News. Our dear friend Pam Dormer, grand-daughter of Tom Pearce the hero of the Loch Ard Shipwreck, died in Exeter England, earlier this week. A beautiful person and a real lady. To Bill and all her family, she will be missed in Warrnambool too. Blue skies, Fair winds and Calm seas Pam. It;s been a privilege to know you. Love Ron and Carlyn

14.01.2022 Great day at Flagstaff Hill as our members cleaned up the Village prior to opening again on Saturday 14th November. Thanks to Kate for providing refreshments at lunchtime. Its been a long time, and everyone is looking forward to enhancing the visitor experience by activating the Village. Roll on the weekend, and come on down to the Village.

09.01.2022 Hi everybody, As you are all probably aware, Flagstaff Hill is up and running again, with the opening last Saturday (27th June). We have the OK to hold our meetings back in the theatrette, so our July meeting to be held on the 7th, (next Tuesday) will be at the village in the theatrette at 10:30 am. The village doesn't open till 10am so the later start is so everyone can be signed in by reception staff, as well as the normal patrons. It is a heavier workload for reception staff due to covid-19 protocols. Hopefully everyone will have done their covid-19 Inductions by then!!! Seating will have to conform to social distancing but that should not be a problem. Agenda will be forwarded later in the week. Great to be back, and to be able to see your smiling faces again!

03.01.2022 Continuing the anniversary of shipwrecks along the SW Coast.
