25.01.2022 Are you a STEM teacher of Year 9 and 10 students? FameLab Academy is a series of workshops to help young scientists develop a flare for pitching and story-telling. The Foundation for the Western Australia Museum is looking for one more school to participate in the 2020 FameLab Academy Pilot Project and is currently accepting expressions of interest. FameLab is an international science communication competition for PhDs and leading researchers. In partnership with the British ...Council and Fogarty Foundation, FameLab Academy is a new initiative aimed at Year 9 and 10 students to develop science communication skills preparing them for the future of work where soft skills are critical. In the competition students are supported by their teachers and a STEM Mentor from academia or industry. They will prepare 3-minute presentations to explain a scientific topic in a dynamic and engaging way to a panel of judges without relying on a powerpoint. This is an incredible opportunity for students to build confidence and gain real world experience, to explore science topics outside of the curriculum, engage with content in creative ways, and connect with past finalists, and industry leaders. Teachers who participate will be offered support and training to guide their students through the process to run FameLab Academy in their schools. A free briefing session for interested teachers will be next Thursday 6 February at 4pm - 7pm. Light refreshments will be provided. There is only one spot left in the Pilot Project for 2020! Send an email ASAP to Andrea Roestenburg to register your interest and for an EOI pack - [email protected] https://www.fwam.com.au/famelab/
