20.01.2022 Durrett maintains skipping any part of the process wont yield proper results. He doesnt think groups should give design control to a developer and insists al...l members should be personally involved from start to finish. The most important component in a cohousing community is the participation in designing and developing a project, he said. Basically, groups of people will take risks that no developer will ever take. Durrett also said the hands-on process will weed people out who arent meant for cohousing, help those who are committed to figure out how to get along, and it will reveal what theyll have to deal with once they move in. https://www.vancourier.com//design-process-critical-in-cre

19.01.2022 Rental Co-ops ensure that some of us are safe from the ignominy of homelessness and constant moving (unless a rough life is your jam). But how is it that in this land of plenty we have people who struggle to find a place to call home however humble that might be?

08.01.2022 As home ownership becomes an impossibility for a huge swathe of younger Australians, how does this influence future models of living for the next generations of... our elderly? A new live research project is asking all of us, of all ages, to think about this through a national online survey and physical exhibition. I happened to be in Melbourne last week and saw the exhibition and encourage you to listen to the radio interview and respond to their online survey. http://www.abc.net.au//young-australians-need-to-/10212266

05.01.2022 Well that was fun. James Brown's presentation set the scene with issues and opportunities for strengthening the co-op housing sector. Several 'wild & wonderful' ideas were pitched and enthusiastic conversations were had as a consequence. The voice of experience came from Peter Shooter and Maude Marten, both co-opers for many years. Another co-oper, Tana Garnett, offered an art therapy session using colour and form to explore personal aspirations around co-op living. Attending guests free-ranged amongst other sessions including architect and Henry Project's Meriam Selman's discussing her 'Reimagine Your Street' campaign. Mark Taylor shared inspiring sustainable technology insights from Josh Byrne and Associates.
